I guess I'll be finishing that one in X2 (it still opens fine in it). Using safe mode reveals that the problem seems to be with a plugin, though I haven't taken the time to disable them one at a time to find the culprit. Disappointing though - especially as an initiation to the new version.

Hmm... alright, I've narrowed it down to a Waves plugin. Are there known issues with any Waves plugins in X3?

Sorry to hear!

Noel was discussing how much work actually went into compatibility between SONAR and Waves recently actually.

Have you attempted the steps in this article? http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013315

Thanks, Ryan. Doing the rescan now. I'll let you know.

No, unfortunately, same deal. Still crashing after the rescan.

Can you send a report in through the Fault Reporter? Tell it you want to be notified of the outcome. It will assign you a "CWBRN" number so that we can trace the report. It might take a bit to analyze but we should definitely capture what's happening.

What version of Waves are you using? Which method of authorizing are you using?

Sure, I think I had deleted a VST3-related Waves folder at some point thinking I wasn't going to need it (Oops!). X3 was trying to load VST3 versions of the VST2 Waves plugins in the project and was bombing out. As soon as I unchecked the "Replace VST2 Plug-ins When Opening Projects" box, I was able to load it fine.

I've since tried reinstalling Waves, so that I'd be able to use the VST3 versions, but that didn't work. May need to do an uninstall first.

Either way, I'm up and running. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for following up. If you do encounter it again, definitely push it through so we can collect the crash data. We may be able to defend against it causing a crash.
