With regard VST3 and Waves, I'm not sure what that means. Does it mean reinstalling all of my existing Waves plugs? If so, does that mean I'll lose all of my Waves plug settings in projects? I'm also curious as to how Waves plugs will work in Sonar X3 in general, particularly with regard to some of the glitchy GUI operation. I really hope that is all fixed.

Using the VST3 versions of Waves plugins should be completely transparent. If you have the VST3 versions installed, SONAR will scan them automatically. Additionally, there is full compatibility with projects using VST2 versions of Waves plugins. By default when you load older projects containing Waves VST2 plugins, SONAR will automatically migrate these to their VST3 equivalents, if available and all the plugin settings will be retained. We worked with the waves devs to ensure that this migration mechanism is seamless. Automatic migration is optional however so if you don't want to do this there is an option to disable it in preferences.

Regarding the glitchy UI, that issue is also resolved. There was a parameter feedback loop with some of the plugins causing that.
BTW talking about UI, there is another nice improvement. Resizing plugin windows in SONAR now doesn't flicker like it did before.

Thanks, that's all good to know.

I stayed away from X2 because of what I heard of Take Lanes.  I am in the middle of a project now, so won't upgrade to X3 for a while.  That will give me a chance to hear/read about Take Lanes.  The Melodyne inclusion sounds good.

What's wrong with the Take Lanes?? I use them all the time in X2a, they work great!

+1 i haven't any problems with take lanes........

Wohoo!! X3 has everything I need.!!! Just a question. What about 64bit QT video support?

I was under the impression that this was a Quick Time issue and not a Sonar issue.

Oh No, I hope they do not do away with V-Vocal. I have melodyne pro and V-vocal has so much more flexibility greatly due to the pencil tool. Melodyne is very ridgid with limited control. it shift & slants waves where you don't want them. It was $300 down the drain for me. KEEP VVocal

I agree.

I have many older projects which contain unbounced V-Vocal clips.

If I lose that lot I will go mental!!!

you'll still be able to use v-vocal with x3 if you have an earlier version of Sonar installed in which v-vocal was included. I'm not sure exactly in what thread I read this and who said it, but it was cake-staff, so you've got nothing to worry about :)

Wow!! Fantastic Bakers!  Sonar has always been rock solid and worked very well for me. X3 and all the new goodies are AMAZING! Full version of Addictive Drums? Is this true? My money's on the table just waiting to be spent! Thanks Cake and Co...
