Oh No, I hope they do not do away with V-Vocal. I have melodyne pro and V-vocal has so much more flexibility greatly due to the pencil tool. Melodyne is very ridgid with limited control. it shift & slants waves where you don't want them. It was $300 down the drain for me. KEEP VVocal

you'll still be able to use v-vocal with x3 if you have an earlier version of Sonar installed in which v-vocal was included. I'm not sure exactly in what thread I read this and who said it, but it was cake-staff, so you've got nothing to worry about :)

Apparently, V-Vocal is no longer bundled with X3, but can be installed from earlier versions and will work with X3:

X3 has very deep ARA integration with Melodyne (or any other future plugins that support the ARA protocol). Both ARA and VVocal fall under the region FX umbrella and are equally supported. So VVocal will work exactly as before (in fact in some ways it works better). As long as its installed from a prior version of SONAR old projects containing it will load fine.

Would be nice if they added downloads to now discontinued software from previously registered versions on our Cake Store accounts. Probably won't happen because of licensing or similar issues, but would be nice since a lot of us like to do full reinstalls rather than upgrades.

It's wierd, I don't have this issue with FLstudio 11 (which also can wrap 64bit plugins in a x32 DAW, maybe their situation is different)

I have not much problem with the fact that there "is" a small latency (it's only about 500 samples), but I do have an issue when I bounce those tracks in place, and that this latency is not compensated. I'm sure this can be resolved, especially since you guys own the code (which is indeed a very good news!)

Are you saying that a VST3 DAW can natively run most 32 bit plugins ?
Can you elaborate or point me where I can find more info about this?

Also, I'm sure some of us doing music to picture would like details about the new video player enhancements ..;)
Thanks again! Congratulations, you just sold me an X3 update!

Thanks for the report about bounce latency compensation and bitbridge. I'm not sure if that was ever logged so please list the CWBRN if you have it. Bitbridge does add a fixed latency for its bridging. I will look into the compensation issue.

What I meant by VST3 is that by definition you will have native 32 and 64 bit versions from anyone developing VST3. It would be foolish for a vendor to not do so. Regarding video, there are enhancements coming but in a free update so stay tuned.

I stayed away from X2 because of what I heard of Take Lanes.  I am in the middle of a project now, so won't upgrade to X3 for a while.  That will give me a chance to hear/read about Take Lanes.  The Melodyne inclusion sounds good.

What's wrong with the Take Lanes?? I use them all the time in X2a, they work great!

So you probably work with one clip in one track method. If not, you must missing rebuild function

Not sure I know what you mean. I can record numerous takes (audio or MIDI) and they show up in their own lanes (within a single track). From there I can edit/automate them individually. Maybe there's an issue I'm unaware of?

It's interesting to note that sidechaining support is now ahead of Cubase. Sonar can now support sidechaining in Waves et al, but Cubase doesn't support sidechaining with VST2.x plugins, such as all of the NI/Softube compressors in Komplete Ultimate.

really ?

you make it sound "impossible" ;-)

my commodore vic 20 won't run sonar x2, even though I added 32k

For those of us who already own full blown versions of  the Nomad and Strum and Lounge Lizard  and Melodyne already, will we have to be careful about installing or not installing them to prevent blowing up the exisitnf full registered versions?

I remember those of us who owned NIs GR and the lite version that came bundled with sonar  broke the full version.

Maybe you cannot speak on this at this time

Melodyne has a universal installer so as long if you have a preexisting license for editor the installation will simply upgrade your existing version to the latest version if you dont have it already.
I believe the other versions are discrete VST dll's so they shouldn't impact existing installations. However I will have to check on this since I'm not aware of the details on those myself.

Well this copy from the Celemony site answers one question

When Sonar X3 is installed, the latest version of Melodyne (Version 2) is installed along with it. However, if the Melodyne installation program finds an older version of Melodyne on your computer, it draws your attention to this fact and gives you the option of canceling the installation and keeping the older version. It does this because the update from Version 1 of Melodyne editor to Version 2 is not free of charge and requires a new serial number. If you install Version 2, your older version of the program (i.e. Version 1) will be removed, but since you have no license for Version 2 you will only be able to use Melodyne editor in Playback mode. The installation program is designed to protect you against this, which is why the dialog was displayed that brought you to this page.

Out of curiosity, how many of the "58 total FX including the new Boutique Suite" will be VST3?

I logged this as CWBRN-3320 in October, 2010. The issue is that the audio is rendered with an extra empty buffer of audio on the front end, effectively adding latency to signal. The larger your ASIO buffer size (or BounceBufSizeMsec= parameter in AUD.INI if not 0), the larger the error. I originally reported it with reference to BFD Eco, but it affects DropZone and other 32-bit synths as well, though possibly not all. JBridge does not have this issue.

Wow, this all happened fast! My fingers are certainly crossed I can do what I need with no issues. When I see "tons of new features", to be honest, that frightens the hell out of me.    But hey, as long as I'm not back into a huge learning curve, all the better.

Cakewalk, please give us more incremental updates for X3? Pretty Please??
