I'm excited for no special reason! X2a has been great for me, but it will be nice to see improved take lane implementation (I still like them better than the old layers). I don't use any VST3 plugs and I'm of the rare species of Homo sonarensis that actually like V-vocal and find it perfectly useable, so I have no idea what this update will do for me, but I'll still be buying X3 on the day of release!
 

Like a few others I already have Melodyne, XLN Drums and they're both superb.  But I always buy the upgrades (since Sonar 2) because the product has given me immense fun and fulfilment over the years.  I can't wait for X3.
 
Oh can someone enlighten me as to what benefits I should see from VST3 over VST2?

Does Addictive Drums still have that weird midi note mapping which means you can't easily put it on a general-midi type drum track?

other VST3 plugs include audiodamage, dmg and u-he, quality stuff :)

There's a GM menu option in the 'Beats' window under 'Startup'.

I am holding off all opinions until I see whats under the hood.
 
From my side, I will be VERY happy if there is much better video support, but we shall see. (So far a You Tube export option doesnt really fill me with glee but that could be the tip of the iceberg)

Does it mean that I can use it (if I need to) in any other DAW?

As much as I hate to be a noob getting all excited about new plugins, that s pretty interesting! I have ReelBus, which is nice and I have been one mouse-click away from buying the UAD Ampex ATR-102 (which is fantastic, but pretty expensive) several times, but I'm still intrigued to see what the bakers have come up with!
