Eeeeeeek! I realize the point of including Pro Channel into Studio is to have people buy expansions, but in order for them to buy expansions, don't they have to start using Pro Channel first? And will they start using it if it doesn't have even the most essential elements of channel strip, such as a compressor?
At least tell me it supports FX chains and that the default pro-channel configuration in Studio has an effect chain with threshold, ratio, and attack knobs for the sonitus compressor (or one of the Blue tubes). If not, I would very eagerly encourage the bakers to make that template downloadable or include it with the first fixpack (and make it the default, in the latter case)
It does support FX chains. More info coming soon. But honestly for the difference in the price of Studio and Producer, you get a lot of cool stuff including the new Tape Emulator and QuadCurve Zoom. Personally, for me, I would stick with Producer :)
Agreed. I wasn't so much asking for myself, as playing product manager in my head (isn't that what everyone here does?) Studio is targeted more to newcomers, who will not have experience with all of Producer's power. You'll want these newcomers to use pro-channel so they'll buy pro-channel add-ons. And if all Pro-Channel offers is an EQ, then it's much less likely it will become a part of these newcomers' routine workflow. Pro-Channel in Studio, as in Producer, needs to be a complete channel strip out of the box.
