Hi , newbiw looking for much needed help....

I have been able to record an acoustic guitar and vocals( together) on a Boss BR 80 and after mastering, input them into a new song/project on SONAR x1 LE.  I can save this track and then drag into my  Itunes- great news.

However i wanted to be able to use Cakewalk drum machine or FX to add another layer/track and encance by song.  It works in playback but i cant record ( and then transfer to Itunes).

I read on here that cakewalk is only used in playback ( or as a guide) so if that is not possible how can i use the FX's within Sonar ( loops i think the folder is called?) and add these to my acoustic tracks and thus enhance my songs?

Any help greatly appreciated....

Thanks  :)

Welcome to the forum.
What drum machine? Studio Instrument Drums? The onscreen drum set is for auditioning sounds; you can't record them.
You will need to write in the drum notes in a MIDI track and output that MIDI track to SID. Or record the drum notes live from a MIDI keyboard/controller or physical drum machine.
FX means effects, like reverb, delay, equalization or compression.
What you want to do is possible, and not too hard, especially if you know the tempo of the song you recorded on the BOSS.

hI Greg, thanks for the reply, really appreciate it.

Yeah, i thought that might be the case re- the on scren drums.

Now i am moving towards adding FX's to the acoustic tracks i have.  I am use ' Sample Magic' which seem easy to use.  I can save these additions but i am havin difficulty ' exporting' these to Itunes as a finished track if you will.  each track/layers  exports seperatly.  Any ideas how i can ' glue' them together?

Should i be using differnet layers or add the FX's directly to the Audio track?

Thanks in advance...

Looking at the Sample Magic page, I see that these are wave file samples, not FXes (effects).
If you use Edit>Bounce To Track(s), that will render the entire track to a single clip that can then be exported. Just mute the original track.
Or, you can put the sample clips in different tracks.
