Howdy Forumers,
Hope everyone is doing well.  Distant Towers has been quietly working on a couple of tunes.  One of them is ready for critique now.  If you have time and the desire to listen, we'd like to hear what you think of this one be it good, bad or ugly.  It is called The Start of Something Better and you can hear it at the link below.  I don't have our web page updated at the moment because I have a new home office PC and do not have my web page editing software installed yet.

The guilty party:
Tom McCaffrey:  Vocals, bass, synth, mixing, guitar (Tom does the lead in the break area on this one)
Preston Richardson:  Drums, percussion and drum track engineering
Tony Wood:  Guitars

We had a lot of fun putting this one together and hope it grabs ya in the right place.  If not, let us know what is wrong with it.

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

This is a good solid song. Almost reminds me of Hawkwind's Steppenwolf (ever so slightly... might be the vocals).

Mix sounds good on my cans

Can't say much else... There's nothing to add or take away from this production. Looks like I'm a fan.............

Cool tune, guys, and well put together.  Hate to disappoint you, but no crits come to mind here :-).  Rock on!

This one is good to go.  I like the refined gritiness of this piece and the lyrics.  Well done!

I hear a little ZZtop and Doors in there somewhere, but that's because I'm old school. You guys have a special sound and I really enjoy the atmosphere you create. I've been to your soundcloud site many times and enjoyed. Clever lyrically and solid tracks all.......Dark and dangerous..... I like...............good work..........Ron

I listened on some mediocre speakers but it came across VERY well mixed. Bass prominent, and the absolute standout for me were the drums. Fantastically punchy and it sounds like you bumped the fills up - I appreciated your drummer greatly, sounded very live!   OK, now go ahead and tell me, you used AD2  :)

One little crit would be, I found 5 minutes just a hair too long for this, but it's still pretty top notch quality.

OK, if we are throwing up comparisons (which is always a sign that things are on the right track) I'd suggest some early Steve Taylor (the Christian rocker from the 80's) and maybe a dash of Rush. Nice territory.

cheers,
-Tom

Hey Tony and Tom and Preston!

the start guitar on this reminds me of Peter Gunn!  (but not to the point of being just like it, just a reminder).

You guys rock!  this isn't an exception!  Love it!

Great song all the way around. Everything sounds nicely balanced and in their own space. Great vocals and I especially love the drums on this one, but the lead guitar kicks butt as well. Very Nice!!

Peace and Blessings, John
