I would like to rout a track output into the input of another track for recording.  I want to do a bunch of effects stuff to a guitar track through Reaktor, switching presets as I go along, generally being random, and want to record the live "what I hear" sound so I can later go back and cut and sample the parts I like.  I'm not sure how to go about this.  I've looked at the bus and send options but I am stumped.  Thanks for any tips!

Currently, there is no way to directly record the output of a softsynth in SONAR. There are two ways to capture the output:
Route the track through a spare set of ports on your audio interface or
Use a plug-in (ex. HGS WAV Recorder) to record the track output and import the result.

You could always CLONE the track and apply the FX to the cloned track.

I'm switching presets and potentially doing unautomatable things in Reaktor so I don't think that would work.  BTW, the HGS wav recorder didn't work for me bridged but that got me on the right path.  Voxengo Recorder did the trick!

That is interesting, I ended up with the HGS recorder because of the warning on the Voxengo site about 64bit compatibility issues. I do recall that the HGS recorder was a little tricky but it did work on X2a 64bit when I tried it many months ago. I have the ports to do the loopback so the VST recorder is not my first choice.
