  • Can't control volume of 2 channels in Studio

So this just happened all of a sudden:
I've got a project in Studio X2 that takes up 16 tracks so far. I've been working with the drum tracks on channels 2-7, EQing, etc.
I've no clue why this started, but the faders on channels 2 (kick) and 3 (snare) will not remain where I set them. They return to 'Zero' on the fader's scale, seemingly in time with a drum beat. As soon as I adjust them up or down, either via control surface (A&H ZED 16R) or with my mouse on the DAW's screen, they'll move back to the 'zero' position on their own. None of the other channels are behaving this way.
I've disabled the "Remote Control" on these two channels, such that the Zed will not control the faders and the same thing happens.
Anyone else experience this one?

Have you have accidentally defined volume automation on those tracks? Set the edit filter to Automation > Volume and delete the envelop.

Cool - that worked, but does that mean I can't use Automation or was this just a glitch? I mean, I didn't create an Automation envelope for Volume by accident: There were a couple of places in the track where I needed to tame back a snare hit (and a kick hit).

No, it means that you had already automated your fader so when you manually moved the fader it would snap back to the previously defined automation on playback. You might want to split out the areas that need adjustment and use a clip gain envelop for the trouble spots. That will let leave the volume fader available for later.

Cool - thanks!
