My son wants to add some "Bass Drops" to a metal song he's working on. Does any one know if there are such things in the extra content ofx2 producer? I've looked a bit in the one shots and some loop stuff but there's so much of it I need a shortcut. This may be achieved with a soft synth as well, it's just not my territory.

Maybe an example would be in order.  Does he mean a drop like is common in genres like dubstep?  If so, there are several synths included with Sonar that can achieve such a thing.  Rapture, Z3ta+ (1 or 2) , Pentagon and honestly most of the synths included can do it on some level.  The first three would be your best bet though.

Are there any tutorials for those synths to create the drops?

I think that is what he's after. I will mess with those synths and see if I can just build that sound. Thanks

This is not the best tutorial, but it gives you a basic idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxfm26TGjlc

For the most part one is creating a bass and tying the lfo to the cutoff while automating the rate.  This tutorial sucks, but the instructions on other tutorials apply to all subtractive synths.  There are also presets included in Zeta+2 and some great lowcost preset packs from Xenos sound works and a few others.

Seems like Drop Zone would be pretty simple to use for this

personally, i found pentagon was the easiest to get the desired result because of it's simple interface in comparison to the others.  Z3ta and Raptiure are , imho more capable of creating more complex and grimier sounds.

Cool. I'll try that when I get home.
