Any one tried the new RME unit with Sonar?

How does it work?
Glitches?

I don't know anyone with a UFX - but plenty of people here have other RMEs (FF400, FF800, FF'UC, BabyFace etc)

there was a thread a while back when this was first advertised
It's also reviewed in january Sound on Sound
Just wondering if there are any problems (not that RME has them!)

I purchased the UFX and have it working with Sonar XI.  I am trying to work out some issues in recording but generally the unit works as advertised.  What makes it really nice is that it works in stand alone mode so you can use a USB stick or external hard drive to capture the channels.  A multi-part wav file is created which can then be imported into Sonar.  Apparently they have created their own USB drivers which smooth the recording process when sending it to a USB stick or external drive.  You'll have to remember that when using a stick or drive they need to be formatted in FAT32 as opposed to NTFS.

The UFX is excellent! (as are all the derivatives)
Exactly what you'd expect (rock-solid and great sound).

Note on USB-3, the latest firmware for the RME units allows them to "work" when connected to USB-3 controllers.
That said, if you're pushing the unit hard at ultra low latency settings, you'll achieve better performance connected to the USB-2 controller that's integrated into the chipset.
ie:  If you plan to use the unit at a 48-sample ASIO buffer size, don't connect it to a USB-3 controller.

If you have the budget, the UFX will easily last you a decade.

I've got the RME UFX Fireface...18 gazillion +1s

Seriously, it is a fine unit, no problems at all that can be directly attributed. My typical project size runs about 30-35 tracks, mostly audio but some MIDI/Softsynths (typically KONTAKT and Superior Drummer)

I have the UFX - I run it via USB2 - it's quite solid with the recent drivers.  I did have some issues when I first purchased it about a year ago (although I'm still unclear whether X1a contributed to those issues), however those have all gone away with subsequent driver updates & X1c.

If your worrying about performance, Dont! If your thinking about getting it, Do!!
