I am just curious about N6's ability to send midi into a DAW via rewire. How did it turn out?I Have N5 but don't see the need to rewire audio into Splat.

I use it all the time and it reminds me how ticked I get about the notation in Sonar being almost useless. I say again, Cake lost a great opportunity to buy and integrate Notion in to Sonar. If that could have been done, the world would be a better place! LOL!!
I think what Presonus is doing with Notion 6 and Studio One is what I would have envisioned for Sonar with Notion. There are a few tutorials on how to ReWire Notion to your DAW on YouTube for those of us who haven't tried that yet. For me it works great.

I own Notion 5 as well, and seems to me the improvements in v6 have mostly to do with integration with Studio One.

Surely, Notion 5 and Sonar already work fine with Rewire...?  (I only use Notion for lead sheets and sketching - never tried Rewire).

I have used Notion 5 since the update came out pretty much just for ReWire notation purposes in Splat. I have been a Notion enthusiast since version 2. I held out for so long thinking Cake would fix the integrated notation in Sonar but it never happened. Hence, when I got up to 5, I thought I would give Notion a whirl on ReWire and it really works well. I just followed the instructions in a video on YouTube to set it up and it works.

Notion 6 has some improvements in automatic tab creation which I like. I have not yet tried to do any drum programming in v6, but I'm hoping the, what look like noticeable, major improvements actually make drum programming a pleasure instead of a PITA.

I think it's time for me to finally get on the ReWire wagon and give it a go.

I've spent a lot (too much) money on notation software, looking for a workflow that suits me. Sigh.

I am curious about N6 ability to send midi out via rewire. Any luck with Splat? I am not aware that Splat can receive midi via rewire. Or it can?

Sid - Would you mind giving a high level overview of how you're using Sonar and N5 together?  I tried and tried, but couldn't get it to work they way I wanted it to.  What I wanted was MIDI from N5 to Sonar-hosted VIs.

Maybe I need to try again.

N5 cannot send midi to DAW. Audio only.Presonus claimed that N6 can send midi to DAW. I have a N6 demo and I have not been successful with N6 sending midi to Splat via Rewire. There are folks in Presonus Forum writing about N6 midi into Cubase and Reaper. Anyone else with any success story with Splat?

Ok. There is one guy in Presonus forum who had tried out successfully N6 rewire midi into Splat. I got my answer.

Studio 1 (from what I can see) is no different than any other DAW when Notion 6 is rewired into it. Everything being developed is on the Notion side as far as I can tell. (They definitely deserve kudos for developing midi over rewire, so much so that I will update my Notion to N6).
I doubt this will be as effective as having built-in notation capability within the DAW (where Sonar, as crippled as it is, is still light years ahead of Studio One).
