Hey!

I am in a desperate need of a new violin and have been looking at Embertone's 'Friedlander Violin'. I love the sample songs on their page. have any of you fine folks tried it, or one of the other solo instruments from Embertone? If so, how is it?

Embertone products are top notch. Don't have Friedlander, but have only heard good things about it. I do have several of their wind instruments and they get regular use in my palette even though I have more expensive alternatives as well.

Cool! Yeah, their instruments are fairly priced it seems, but of high quality. I have some of their freebies and love them. But do you know if their scripting and keyswitches are as good as their sampling?

I have the EWQL Solo Violin and yes, it sound pretty decent, but it's not a very good solo violin IMO or easy to play

I've heard that Friedlander is one of the best solo violins around, so I don't think you can go too wrong with it. But to make sure you're satisfied here's a comparison of a few violins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WwzesN1kEM

Cool video! They all sound quite good. The Kontakt engine is definitely a preference.

I still leaning towards the Friedlander. It certainly sounds most human of them all...

I recently got the Intimate Strings bundle (Friedlander, Fischer, Blakus and Leonid) and these are indeed wonderfully natural instruments with great legato and even the ability to double up until eight players. The Friedlander has been updated to version 1.5 and clearly is a work of love. Leonid bass is the latest, also NKS-compatible, and sounds absolutely delicious, as does that Blakus cello. But do try the Fischer viola as well, if you're looking for a violin, you might be amazed by the sheer musicality.
Edith adds: EastWest Hollywood Solo Violin (not the older Solo Violin) is also great but has a much larger footprint.

Heeeeey! There's a good discount on them all when you buy the bundle! I didn't realize they were the same instruments.

The NKS part is definitely interesting. I do have the Native Instruments controller. Is it safe to assume that the rest of them will be updated to NKS versions sometime down the line?

I looked at the EW Hollywood one, and the samples are amazing - however, I am getting a bit tired of the Play engine. Plus, I hate to drag my dongle along when I'm out with my laptop. Embertone has the edge of being authorized through NI's system.

That bundle is interesting. I think I'll go for that.

Thanks guys!

I'll throw this into the air since it's a good one for legato violin. http://fluffyaudio.com/shop/simple-violin/ Cheap, sounds great, the legato is good.

Wow! Good one!

I just realize I haven't kept up to date on things for a loooooooong time!

Since I am already buying a lot of new stuff, I might as well throw this one in. It doesn't seem as versatile as the Friedlander, however, at 39bucks I can't see why not ;)

Great! Thanks!
