Could be in some cases, however I've seen these weird graphical glitches in Sonar since way before the introduction of themes.
I believe one of the reasons why Sonar is so buggy is because its bugs are so random and hard to pin down. You often see weird stuff that you don't have a hope in hell of replicating to a recipe, and so there was never any chance of the Bakers getting to the bottom of it (unless the bug description gave them an "aha" moment which was immediately apparent, of course).
As an example, last night I was in the piano roll and had entered four quarter notes, one after the other. Later I went back to move the first note up in pitch, and when I clicked on it, all four quarter notes were combined into one long highlighted note. But when I dragged it up, it turned into a quarter note again. Classic Sonar "wuh?" moment, lol.
Another seemingly unfixable bug was with the track manager. I would sometimes spend ages tidying up a project by hiding all the stray tracks I didn't need, only to find those tracks become randomly unhidden when I loaded the project again. Saw this mentioned on the forums a few times as well. I also had the occasional MIDI track completely disappear from the project. I'd hide it, and go back to it later to find that it wasn't there at all. Had a couple of people tell me the same thing had happened to them, too. There were a ton of problems in the console as well - I sometimes had tracks completely missing from the console view with no way to get them to reappear, even though I had that track type selected in the console view settings.
It depresses me that these infuriating, workflow killing bugs will never be fixed now.
