  • Anyone seen this weird graphical glitch? (p.2)

...I believe one of the reasons why Sonar is so buggy is because its bugs are so random and hard to pin down. You often see weird stuff that you don't have a hope in hell of replicating to a recipe, and so there was never any chance of the Bakers getting to the bottom of it (unless the bug description gave them an "aha" moment which was immediately apparent, of course).

As an example, last night I was in the piano roll and had entered four quarter notes, one after the other. Later I went back to move the first note up in pitch, and when I clicked on it, all four quarter notes were combined into one long highlighted note. But when I dragged it up, it turned into a quarter note again. Classic Sonar "wuh?" moment, lol...

...It depresses me that these infuriating, workflow killing bugs will never be fixed now.

Me too. I've had some weird quirky behaviour in Sonar that comes and goes. But when you post about it here in the forum, nobody else has seen the same thing. And, of course, I've never witnessed the same behaviour that you are describing either.

I most often have issues when docking/undocking, but it also occurred to me that people with dual monitors may not have the same issues as those who use SONAR on a single screen. I would imagine the features and views one uses plays a role, as well. For example, I was surprised to find out some people don't use the Console View.

Yeah, I'm actually quite new to sonar, even though I bought it a few years ago, I only really started really getting into it recently, so its hard when your learning the software, and you don't know whether its doing that thing because its a bug, or its just me not knowing what I'm doing

As others have noted, I've had many odd graphical anomalies over the years.
I've had one that involves horizontal lines that are remnants of the folder image that persists once you switch views to something else. It's been with me through 2 CPU/ MB changes, and 3 different graphic cards. Gave up trying to figure it out....so yes Sonar has some graphics gremlins that come with the territory.

actually I did have a glitch, one day, when a dragged out a groove clip, there was no corners on the start or end of the loops to show where the start and the end was.......I thought it was me.......when I rebooted the computer, and opened the project back up, the groove clip was as it should be!!!

I think there was definitely something funky about the way Sonar's GUI was coded. For instance, pretty often I'll find that when I shut down Sonar, the playhead remains on the screen, floating above my desktop. It's something I don't generally see in other programs.
