I am going to do some strumming on my electro acoustic guitar and record in Sonar X2. It's not going to be an 'unplugged' recording, but one which is lined in, as in the guitar audio out is connected to the my interface audio in. My question is, ideally what should the EQ settings be on my the guitar's so called 'EQ panel' to record strumming? Hope someone can advise. Thanks.

I would recorded it flat and add specific eq later depending on your needs.

Record the line signal flat.
Upon playback, I'd use a high-pass filter to get rid of extraneous thump/rumble/mud
If the guitar is part of a full ensemble/band arrangement, you can set the high-pass filter higher.
There's no need for the acoustic to be competing with the bass and kick drum.
 
If the guitar is using a piezo pickup, it's going to sound a bit "spanky" (lots of "smack").
You might want to EQ to tame that a little... (going to be in the mids)
But EQ is totally dependent on the situation (context)...

I agree about recording it flat, but will add that built-in acoustic guitar pickups can sound harsh and they can have pretty spikey transients, so you will probably find yourself doing some EQ and processing later.  If you search Sound on Sound or Recording Mag articles online, there should be some good information to get you started (if you need it).
 
Is putting a mic in front of the guitar an option?

I would adjust the EQ on the guitar so it sounds good going in.
 
The concept of "flat" is an abstracted ideal and it's more realistic to just accept that the middle of each slider is simply just the middle of the slider's range.
 
Make sure you like the tone you are hearing and then hit Record.

I agree with the concept of Flat EQ for recording.
 
Since you're recording "strumming," you might also want to think about what type of pick you're using. 
I have found that I get different sounds on a strum depending on the thickness of the pick. 
That is the attack of the strum sounds very different with a light pick compared to a medium or heavy pick.
Since it's all about your personal taste, it's one of those things you might want to experiment with to see
what woks best with your particular song project.

I use large triangular thin picks for recording acoustic strumming and I don't hit the strings too hard.  This, of course, is generic advice and some songs might call for more aggression.  I do find that most studio players have a lighter touch than those that play in bars, for fun, etc.

Without knowing the sound you want, without hearing the sound of the guitar, without hearing the other instruments that the guitar will be mixed into and without knowing the type of strings and wood your guitar has, Its impossible to tell someone what to set the EQ to. all anyone would be doing is guessing.
 
So, without these things listed above, all i can tell you is to set the EQ so that it sounds good to you. That's what I would do if i was there with you. I would listen to the guitar and then EQ it to my personnel taste.
 
You should do the same, as this is the only way to get the sound you want. If someone is telling you to EQ a certain frequency, then they are guessing.
