• SONAR
  • Installing Novation ZeRO SL MKII software with both X1 and X2 installed

I've installed the Automap software for this new controller but its discovery wizard only shows X1 as an option.  I have both X1 and X2 installed - both working from separate directories on separate disks, but there is only one option to install.

Unfortunately the information on the Novation site, while quite good, is pretty sparse when it comes to the new versions of Sonar.  Has anyone successfully installed to both versions of X?  If so, what's the trick?

Thanks,
Dan

Automap will work with X2 (I use a Novation Impulse 49), but currently Automap does not autodetect X2 like it does X1.

I'm not in front of my DAW at the moment, but I believe the documentation on how to set up Sonar is included in a documentation folder inside the Automap program folder.  It should guide you through the basics.

To get mine to really work with X2, I wound up creating some custom Automap templates that I load up as neeeded.  Works great, and the couple of extra mouse clicks it takes to load a template really isn't that big of a deal!!

Give yourself some hands-on experimenting time to work with Automap.  It actually works quite well, but like many things DAW (and computer!) related, some custom tweaking usually works MUCH better than just relying on "automatic" or "wizard" setups.

As rivers88 already said, Automap does not currently autodetect X2 in the software setup tab.  This will be corrected in a future release of Automap.

In the meantime, since you have X1 installed and can select it in Automap, use the software setup guide for X1 to set up X2.  All of the steps are the same.  Alternatively, the setup guide can be found in Program Files(x86)/Novation/Automap/Setup Guides/Sonar X1

Matt, some months ago I contacted novation, because there are some bugs in other hosts:
- ableton live: device lock/unlock does not work with the live template
- cubase vst3 plugs can't be controlled via mouse when follow plug focus is enabled in auto maps preferences

When do these get resolved finally?

Thank you all for your advice.  I'll have to delve deeper into the automap settings.  I'm slowly getting there, but no useful template yet.  I won't give up trying!

9 months later, and STILL no update to AutoMap 4, I guess I won't be buying the Novation keyboard if it won't work with Sonar X2. :(

It works ONLY with the Mixer and doesn't DETECT as a DAW in the Software Setup page.

X2 being 'detected' in Automap only serves to host a setup guide.  Once configured (explained above), you should have full functionality regardless of Automap not showing X2 in the setup list.

If you feel that it is not functioning properly, please get in touch with our Technical Support via this link so that we can best assist you:

In regards to the next version of Automap which will recognize X2 in the setup area, it should be coming soon.
