Thanks for any ideas...  I want to record my vocal. the music is exactly 3:00 min long. .. but since sp8e is sputtering.. then.. I can never record my vocal as.. it is still recording in real sputter time.. and that don't line up with my music people. I don't think that's right!

so for now, i am using audacity to track my vocals  .. i have turned off... windows backups / auto updates / sys restore / etc. I feel like xp is barebone. im sure im overlooking a process. it's SOMETHING lol... dirty little process. last time this happened, it took me daysss to isolate which process was making my sonar sputter. that was five machines ago.
 

Try disabling your network adapter.
