After using the PC EQ to cut on an acoustic guitar recording, how can I come back to the original level output?

  1. Track fader
  2. Blank FX chain - they contain input/output sliders
  3. If you're running a compressor after the EQ, use the make up gain
  4. Ignore it

Raise the level on the track gain/output fader to restore volume if the EQ is the last module in PC.  Or insert a chain w/ a gain control after the PC EQ.

I like that blank fx chain. I like to keep the same level after an effect without going to the fader. I try to do the faders last just to dial in the levels after all processing is done.

Thanks much

Not to sound all scientific, but some of that is psycho-acoustics.  True, you are reducing the level when you cut, but some frequency bands make the signal seem quieter.

I do wish there were a make-up gain control on the EQ.

Oh yeah that's right. Because of the Fletcher-Munson curve I presume.
