NAMM 14?  Well, they might as well call it X4 and be done with it.  My money's still on this month though!

I'm not sure.

So, don't call me Shirley.

Sadly...

I doubt we will hear anything before 9/20 (end of X2 discount) and likely to take until October for them to say anything...

Still got the "buy X2 now get the next version free" promo to go yet, so I wouldn't go getting your hopes up just yet.

Sadly, Cakewalk has lost the plot. It's the only serious software I own that has been dead in the water this long.

Are they in it to win it? No=/

You mean they will finally realise this forum softw sucks and move to something sensible.

Or if you are talking about news on X2b or as their marketing department and financial section want to call it X3 then do not hold your breath.

Funny you should bring that up...

Tho I'm sure there are users who like the new gui for the forum and maybe some features work that didn't before and more features? I don't know... For me it still works the same, but is now wastes a lot more screen real estate as well as take me more clicks to do things....

I didn't have a problem with the old forum gui other than (for a short time) it's incompatibility with Firefox... No longer a problem even before they "upgraded"...

<sigh>

The transition to Roland ownership/operation has affected communication.
Restructuring/re-organizing takes time.

I'm not sure why this notion keeps going around. Cakewalk operates pretty independently from Roland. Nothing *substantial* has changed here in the last 5 years. Yes, we have a new CEO and a few different faces, but we still operate out of Boston.

Hi Seth...

thanks for dropping in and talking with us... I think many of us understand (if not most), but the changes in communication and releases has us all questioning everything.... and that has seemed a likely place for the reasons...

I am glad to hear that little has changed for you guys internally... Very relieved... But why then is this sudden change to so little communication and releases??? I know you guys are all very busy and spending time in the forums or similar places takes away from your work and other needed time... Somehow we used to have more communication regardless... I'm sure someone keeps an eye on this place anyway...

Please understand that I truly appreciate all your work (all the Cakewalk team) and know that you're busy doing your best to improve things... But what is the point to letting so much "bad" speculation continue when some simple statements/answers can clear it up quickly? I'm sure you have planned release dates for various releases be they updates or new releases... why are we no longer "in the loop"?

I understand that you don't want to put yourselves in a corner making statements that can't be backed up, but simply stating if there will be/not be another point release prior to X3? ... Or even an expected time for the release of X3 itself?

I just don't see how that might hurt sales!

Thanks again for taking some time for us...

Seth, I'm sure this notion stems from the difference in interaction and patch releases people have noticed from Cakewalk. I'm not one to speak to the history of things because I'm new from X1, but I'm sure you've seen the concerns on this forum. Obviously, they're drawing conclusions in the absence of tangible answers. For what it's worth, either way you look at it (Boston or Roland), we feel Cakewalk is busy, but not revealing. It's frustrating to some of us, but indications are that we'll find out before Winter 'NAMM. Thanks!

Probably will be sometime around the release of Windows 8.1 on October 18th.
I hope Roland has their drivers ready. As of now they're controllers don't work on 8.1
