Yup, exactly.

And if "news" is published on 12/31 at 11:59 PM, then I suppose 01/01/14 will be an interesting day around these parts.

Pardon my ignorance, but what the hell is the big issue???? I'm a professional user, and frankly, it is a total turn off whenever I pop onto this forum. I have gained a lot of good tips here over years, but the complaining is getting to the point where it's just downright ridiculous. Are your systems to the point where Sonar has crippled your workflow? Is your system the issue? What exactly is the elusive "bug" fix that is going to magically fix your issues? And then when the next patch gets released it will be like "my system is not working now, I keep getting crashes, blah, blah, blah". I can honestly say Sonar, all the way from Cake 3.0 to X2a, has always been SOLID. It sucks there are no substantial scoring-to-picture features (which is I why I use alternate DAW's for that work), but that is not a bug, and I'm okay with that. I've also NEVER experienced issues from tech support over the years....tickets always get answered and resolved.

What am I missing??

You're missing the fact that others do have real problems that need to be fixed.

I remember that, and you're right it did turn ugly. I guess a lot a folks are saying (myself included) that communication (as in product development info) may have gone too far the other way since then. Thanks for taking the time to share what little you can! It sounds like good news!

Why are so many people so anxious to have a new version to complain about?

A brief review of this forum indicates that we have not exhausted all of the deficiencies and bugs of the current version yet?

I agree. I've seen a number of users who had no problem running other daws but couldn't get Sonar to work, so I'm starting to consider myself just one of the lucky ones. But I have some tickets not answered/resolved. That's a fact.

I understand that for the most part everyone has good intentions. I can't comment on the marketing side of things or the change in press releases. I'm not in marketing. You'll find the blog pretty active though.

I can't comment on details of builds/patches/releases of SONAR, but I can say I'm pretty excited. I've been using Cakewalk products for about 15 years.

Alright, back to work.

Thanks Seth...

...and that "little tease" gives away nothing of directed info, yet breeds a lot of joy in my heart!

Regarding communication, you are clearly talking about the communication here on the forum. From an overall marketing perspective, we continue to communicate with customers through various mediums.

We send out weekly newsletters (sometimes multiple per week) with news, offers, and tips. This has not changed one bit.

We post on Facebook and Twitter a few times a DAY. We have been very proactive in that sense.

We have posted new videos and tips on the blogs as well. In comparison to many competitors, we have a more active blog.

August is a light month, but we continue to advertise both print and online and have done so throughout the year. In  fact during the spring, we were in almost every major magazine.

We have continued to see press on SONAR X2 and other products with reviews coming out recently in Recording and Mix magazine.

In terms of new products, we announced a new version of Music Creator 6 in the spring and brought it to Steam a month later.

We announced the VKFX ProChannel modules with VST, which was done in partnership with Overloud.

Earlier this week we released Z3TA+ 2 Steam.

In regards to events, we will be at IMSTA fest this fall and participated in NAMM and Musikmesse. We have other events planned this year.

So all in all, we have been busy. What we have not discussed more openly is future plans for products or updates. Our policy has always been not to discuss this until we are ready to talk about them openly and deliver on our promise. Many many years ago, we got burned with this when we told people an update was coming at the end of the year and it got pushed back a month. We got a lot of angry reactions. It puts us in a difficult situation. So we would rather deliver on promises rather than tell people what our future plans are for certain products. The future is bright though, I promise.

Finally, this is a peer-to-peer forum and the spirit is to have users be able to seek help from other users. There will be times when we are more active and other times that we are less active, depending on schedules. If you are having an issue or need help, we have a customer service and tech support team here that you can contact directly.

I promise you that Cakewalk has been busy and we will have exciting news to share this year. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Andrew...

Very well spoken and I understand what you say... Yes you've been busy doing all the things you mention... And I've been around here long enough to remember a lot... I recall people being upset when you didn't deliver on time, but is this any better with people being upset when you don't supply any guidelines for our "hope"? ;-)

All that you said is true, but also there were more releases in the past... so that did change. If the software was near flawless for what it claims, I could understand few fix-releases... But there are very definitely issues of repair that need addressing (aside from some of my pet issues of design choices/limitations)...

Maybe my aging memory is remembering some of this wrong? I would think you could make some generalzed statements that would help just as you did here regarding news this year... that still doesn't mean delivering anything this year, but hey... I'll take all the crumbs I can get...

We've talked many times over the years and I've learned to trust your words, So I will do my best to wait more "calmly"... But it's hard to stay calm all the time when I start banging into problematic issues, so I hope you excuse some of my outbursts over the years. ;-)

I am very appreciative of the way you guys run the forum and tolerate all our wild extremes... There is no better on the planet that I've heard of...

Keep up the great work! I will try to be pleasantly excited as I await the news.

Thanks again...

Hopefully, as well as fixing some current bugs, it will give us some new things to complain about! I'm getting tired of the same complaint over and over! ;-)
