  • X2a - Take lanes get botched up

I have had several projects where something gets messed up on my audio tracks.  When recording multiple take lanes, I end up with two lanes that are both called "T1".  One will be empty and the other has the clip in it.  If I try to delete the empty lane, it will delete the other one instead, leaving me with the "T1" that has no clip.  If I click solo or mute on one of the "T1" lanes, it puts that same setting on its twin.

If I create a whole new project, it works correctly, but adding audio tracks in the same project seems to have the same problem.

And maybe coincidentally, if I try to write automation into that track, it won't take it.  The faders will control the level, but the automation is not recorded, even though the automation write light is on.  Again, all works fine if I create a whole new project.

So it seems somehow the project has become damaged.  This has happened to me several times and I cannot really correlate it back to something I did differently.  Has anybody else seen this problem?

Also, how hard do you think it would be to open a new project and move all my tracks to that?  It is only about 8 tracks, but I do have a lot of effects and automation and don't want to lose that.  Is there some strategy for making a move like that?

With all tracks selected, right click and save as a Track Template.
You can then open the Track Template in any project.

Yeah, I've seen some weirdness issues with Take Lanes: Deleting a Take Lane deletes one next to it as well, Moving clips from one lane to another may drop the clip into the wrong lane, and duplicate numbers (like you mentioned here). I've resorted to comping in tracks vs. Take Lanes, but it could be not everyone has had these issues.

What I do is create a string of new tracks for editing or comping. I move all the Take Lanes I want to comp to the new tracks, comp them down to what I need, then move the result back to a new Lane in the original track (or delete the source track).

Will that carry the automation and effects as well as the clips themselves?

If so, that is beautiful.  But I guess that may also carry across the garbage that has corrupted my project.  I'll do some testing to see if that is the case.

tAKE LANES IS REALY  PAIN.. THERE SHOULD BE OPTION TO EITHER ENABLE TAKE LANE OR USE THE OLD TRACVK LAYER METHOD. FOR ME THE OLD METHOD WAS FAST AND HANDY.

take lanes are the new "skylighted" version of layers, you need to go back to x1 if you need layers

Take lanes are buggy, broken & in need of urgent repair.

Take lanes aren't "broken", or they just wouldn't work for anyone, ever.   And for me, they do work OK more often than not.  So I would say they're really just a bit temperamental at times.

That's why I pointed out to those that are unaware.
Take lanes  haven't work correctly since X2 was released in Sept of 2012.
