Hmmm...

I have used WDM and multiple brand converters together with no problems... Yes, you must set one as your master clock and the other(s) to external... Using a dedicated clock is even better as typically they have less jitter...

The bigger problem is that many converters give both ASIO and WDM support, but often only stero WDM when giving both... If your interfaces offer full Multi-I/o with either driver, the system should work fine...

When I experimented with WDM drivers with my Motu Ultralite I got dropouts so I went back to ASIO drivers

Sorry to hear that... I imagine you readjusted the latency to equivalents?
Some companies do better with one driver or the other... Sadly we don't know until we try each...

If you have the Octa-capture, you can use a unit like an ADA-8000, Digimax, Octopre, etc (8 channels of mic pre's that output thru lightpipe) to effectively provide another 8 analog input channels.

Otherwise... (as was mentioned), you can run a pair of Octa-capture units.

My point was if a mixer with say 4 inputs was placed prior to the Octa-Capture one would have four inputs going in to one Octa-Capture input. Again like I said this is not the optimal way to go but just a work around.

Mario, that will not give you more inputs into Sonar! your point an is its a common mistake made by rookies. Picture it in your head and you will see error in logic. You will actually lose inputs if you direct a mixers 4 inputs prior to the sound card (octa-capture).

Generally a mixer will add more inputs. It wont  add more outs unless it has direct outs. What CJ is saying is that whats important is the number of outs going into Sonar if you want independent and separate tracks.

Yes, of course! Now the light bulb goes on!

I was talking inputs to Sonar, not outputs to Sonar. My bad, sometimes I don’t wake up until the next day!
Thanx for not trashing me. This was the perfect way to correct someone and I appreciate that.

I use 2 Edirol UA-101 (USB2) together usually and successfully (for 16 inputs), with Asio.
