I think it's a shame for Sears to be circling the drain after so many years. Here is an article about them trying to sell the off the Craftsman brand.

Brick and Mortar is dying for sure.

So why not one of the oldest (alive) in our country.

Eddie will shut it all down eventually.

Good riddance, IMO.  I bought a tablet computer using the Sears online site a couple of years ago.  I was not sent what was advertised and demanded 100% of my money back.  The Sears satisfaction guarantee, similar to that offered by Amazon, proved to be totally bogus.  I swore I'd never buy another thing from Sears, so I could care less if they are going down.  I think that company is getting exactly what is coming to it.

I'm not saying that Sears doesn't deserve what they have brought on themselves just that I find it a shame. Sears was the icon of American retail for over a century and then some low-rent huckster buys it and drives it into the ground.

And yes, Amazon is putting a lot of brick-and-mortar companies out of business. I don't think that means they can't compete or stay relevant. There are still plenty of b&m stores doing good. If a large chain would/could go toe-to-toe with Amazon, there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to succeed; especially stores with the footprint and logistics of a chain as large as Sears (using sears for example). Personally, I had rather go pick up something than wait for it to be shipped.

Oh well...

I quit Sears, something like 10 to 15 years ago, when they sent out their credit card to the big bank in NY, which promptly added unreal charges and non-existent late fees, as payments were after 28 days, not 30 or 31, or something like that. It wasn't worth the hassle.

Same thing happened to Montgomery Wards.

It was all a part of the American "corporatization" ... that we love so much. The local touch and stores, no longer did it for us ... and they deserve to die for it.

I guess the term "Lifetime Warranty" was used loosely, eh?

Isn't that Lifetime thing still good until Xmas eve 2037?

I quit Craftsman years ago.
