If you want to keep your DAW and OS in isolation, or simply turn off Windows updates, it's totally your choice.
If you run or install other (and older) software on your system. then you may have to re-consider eventually, when Windows programming has moved ahead and left old software behind . . . or when the install / update routine no longer works.
If you're tech savvy, there is a way to turn of Windows 10 updates . . . if not, I would advise staying with Windows 7.
I updated my system to Windows 10 because I read there were some new audio advantages, to be honest, I never noticed any difference . . . Windows 10 is like Windows 7 shaken and stirred.
Unfortunately, my older software collection . . . one by one has stopped working properly in Windows 10 . . . with each new update I test things out to see if I need to retrograde a Windows update because something doesn't work.
It's no way to run a DAW system . . . but I have to keep other software current like Adobe, AutoCAD, MS Word etc.
