• SONAR
  • Sonar X2 Producer - Export audio is not producing "what you hear" correctly.

If I put a volume autiomation envelope on a track (in this case a vocal track) that boosts  or cuts the volume, on export in the "what you hear" mode, the level of the track is boosted or cut in the exported file by that amount.  So, if I put a boost in the volume of 8db, and am happy with the balance when playing in X2, the exported file will have an 8db boost in the vocal track.  Same with a cut in the volume level.  What's going on?

Hi tbaker1328 . . . welcome to the forum !
Not clear, what is your routing of tracks to your audio device ?
Do you have multiple busses going directly to your audio device, or are you sending all tracks and busses to a Master buss, which is then routed to your audio device ? How are you monitoring the signal, do you have an external mixer ? etc . . .

I must be misreading, because I don't even understand what's not working correctly. It sounds like you're describing a successful export of a project with one track's volume adjusted by automation.

That's exactly how I read it Dave.

OP, you'll need to describe what you're hearing in a lot more detail and with an explanation of your entire routing scheme inside Sonar.

This all sounds as though it's working as it should be.

The symptom is that the exported file has 8db more level on the vocal than it does when playing the mix from X2.
At any rate the problem if fixed.  There were some sends left over in the template that I created the project from.  When I cleared them, the export was as expected.
So, another "operator error" problem, which I always suspect.  The first respone here was the one that got me looking in the right place.
