LXP looks juicy.

PCM must be a better match for Pro Channel... it has to be cause it costs 3-4x as much... right?

I think.

Yes? No? Maybe?

Anyone?

I went with LXP.   I just really couldn't justify the extra cash for a couple more modes and presets.   It really is a great sounding reverb.

When I was demoing it, I was turning the send WAY up listening for that tell-tale reverb sound, but you really had to push to get it.  Instead things just sounded fuller/better, like they should sound.

Course if you have the extra cash, why not go for it.

Forgive me, I know it's not what you asked, but have you considered Galbanum Aether? I have yet to hear a better reverb (IMHO), and it's cheaper than both of them.

Scientifically speaking the comparison chart for the PCM option has more green ticks than the LXP one.

It has 3 more plug-ins, 700 more presets as well as 47 flexible space rooms absent in the LXP range, add to that the extra cost will give you more bragging rights and it becomes a no-brainer.

Having said that you may well find the 3 set-ups you end up using as your goto Plate, Hall and Room sends from the LXP range and save yourself a pile of cash.

Who knows? Reverbs are a funny business, I only really find out what I get fed up with after a period of prolonged use.

Nice tip there, I haven't heard that one before.   It sure sounded good to me.  Whether it's better than a Lexicon?

Well...

I guess that's a matter of personal preference.   There's just always been something I like about Lexicon reverbs.

PCM is a superb reverb. I've tested it and it's really the real deal! I'll try to save up for it, so in a couple of years I might own it!

What does the 480L have in it? An ancient ASIC from the dark ages?

Yeah, I think my i7 might be able to hang.

How about the math? What's the difference between the LXP and PCM math?

700 more presets sounds luxurious... like hi thread count bed sheets.

There is no math difference between the LXP and PCM (or between the hardware versions that I am aware of).  The PCM just has 3 more types to choose from.

It's FINALLY real lexicon reverb in native form.

Agreed, I just couldn't justify it.  Maybe when I'm finally making money with music (I always come so close) but right now it's just an expensive hobby, and there's plenty else I would like.  For example that EWQL Hollywood strings sound awesome !

Are you sure?

Not trying to be a wiseguy about this... is it documented by Lexicon that it's the same math?

That could get me to buy the LXP ASAP.

Thanks,
mike
