  • Weird issue with a project - project stops playing but two tracks keep on goin'

Hi all,

I recorded a project with about 8 audio tracks, and I have a midi track with EZ Drummer and another midi track running a bass patch. When I play the project, it plays fine for about 4 seconds, then the project stops. HOWEVER, two of the tracks continue playing. The Now line doesn't move and the project can be closed, but it cannot be stopped because Sonar doesn't think it's running. All other sounds just stop when the project stops except these two audio tracks. This is in X1, I then tried in X2 (I have this installed but I went back to X1 due to various stability issues) I get the EXACT same problem.

any ideas?

Exorcism?

That's likely the weirdest weirdness I have heard about with Sonar.

I have no clue how something would play when the project is closed.

The project stays open, but the transport stops.

I've been a Cakewalk user for a very long time, and I've NEVER seen anything like this...  When X2 reproduced it, that was the cherry on top. :)

Is there some sort of dangling automation way out there on the project timeline?

Just about has to be an audio driver or plugin issue of some sort. What interface, driver mode and buffer settings? And since you're a long time Cakewalk user, when did it last work normally, and what changed? If it's only an issue with this one project, make a copy, and start taking it apart until the problem goes away. My first guess would be some plug-in is generating output that SONAR sees as an FX "tail", and that what's playing on after the playback stops.

Hi Brundlefly,

It is indeed just one project that I know of. I will try a few others and if it is contained to the one, I will make a copy and start descructing - good idea thanks!
