Hi,
I'm receiving a strange repeated error in my Sonar HS 4 setup.  About 50% of the time when I enter Sonar I receive the "no midi output assigned" error message and I am presented with a box that allows me to select my midi ports (both in and out are not registered).  Everything works fine after I set this up, but it seems somehow the assignment is lost sometimes, because I often receive this error message.  As I said, it does not happen all the time, but I'm wondering why my configuration isn't being saved "sometimes".  Any suggestions?

Thank you!

What is your MIDI device that it keeps losing?

All of them - both the midi in and out.  I have an old MOTU pocket express midi controller hooked up to the parallel port on my win x/p box which is routed to a Yamaha CLP 170 and a QSR.    Thank you!

My first thoughts are that you are trying to use 2000 technology in 2013. :)  I can think of many reasons why that might be the root of it all. But then, I'm still recording 16 tracks live on a 2004 Toshiba Laptop. I would check my cable connections as It might be they are loose and not always recognized by Sonar when it boots up. But you are seriously in need of some updating your hardware, it sounds like it's outlived its dependable lifespan.

Thanks, I've been considering that.  I'm just a bit reluctant to go that route - if you end up upgrading your machine you can get into some fairly serious dollars - new hardware, new operating system, new interfaces - and the "adventure" in getting it all to work together.  The problem I'm having really isn't a show stopper - just an annoyance - but it would be nice if I didn't have to reassign my midi in and outs each time!  Thanks for your comments.
