I not familiar with the ua25 ex. What is the advanced driver switch for? What does it say in the manual?

Make sure you are using the most up to date driver for you OS. (Check website)

The advanced driver switch enables the unit to use its MIDI ports and higher sample rates. I use the older UA-25 (non-EX) which is very similar. I leave the advanced switch on but don't have crackles and pops unless I set the latency in SONAR too low. This device works well. I recommend WDM mode drivers, download latest from Edirol, use Advanced mode, use either 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rates, and don't have anything else on the same USB hub/bus as the UA-25EX. Make sure Windows is configured for application mode instead of services mode (this might be contrary to Edirol's instructions but it is correct).

is it possible that vista causes problems with my ua25ex maybe i should try to reinstall XP
Could this be a possible solution . I tried out the interface on a friends laptop with XP and Fruity loops and it worked fine

I have tried the UA-25 on Vista 32 bit and had no problems. Edirol was one of the first Vista-friendly audio interface manufacturers from what I recall. There are still may be manufacturers who have not jumped up to modern times with drivers ready for Vista--and they'll be even further behind after next year as Windows 7 starts hitting the pavement.

Had the same problem. Change the driver from WDM to ASIO in the driver advanced settings. Fixes the problem for good.

You always want to use the ASIO drivers if they are available...

Great info!
This has been my experience also, Advanced mode is the way to go, the Edirol manual for the Ua 25 EX, explains it on line 21. Use the driver supplied with the installation disc, once it is installed check the options settings for audio in Sonor. Use ASIO driver mode for Audio. It will give you the best latency setting.
Hope this helps.

Hi
I have a simple/Terminal! problem with my Edirol UA25EX the "power lights no longer come on when I plug in the USB cable ( which I have checked as ok with other devices )
Is there some sort of fuse blown ( I hope, but doubt.. too easy!)
Ive tried a Yamaha sound Audiogram 6 Audio Interface on the same Laptop and that works perfectly.
Any Ideas please xxx
