  • Take Lane Solo/Mute behaviour is different in different folders

In the "piano" folder there are 3 take lanes which follow the conventions of being able to solo/mute different takes. Different clips in different lanes.
In the "bass" folder there are 2 take lanes in which I can solo/mute as above on different clips in different lanes, but can they can also both play as the time line moves. More like the old layers from X1. I like this! But I don't know how I achieved it.
My best guess is in the recording setup. I probably did it differently when I recorded each instrument.

Sound on Sound or Overwrite?
Store Takes in a Single Track or Store Takes in Separate tracks?
Create New Lanes on Overlap?
I likely had 'Group Clips Across Tracks' checked.

Any idea what recording setup enabled the wanted behavior in the bass track.
No audio, all MIDI.
Thanks in advance!

if you do not mute the lanes you can playback more than 1 lane during playback. creating clips in the various lanes and muting the ones you don't want to hear will playback just as in previous versions of Sonar.

I would suggest that if your intent is to comp the multiple takes into one that contains the best of each that you learn to use the mute tool to do the job. You can use it to easily solo the part of a lane that you want to hear by control-click and drag. Once you get used to it this can be a very quick way to work.

This has helped quite a bit in revamping my workflow. Thanks.
Taking a bit of getting use to but I can see how this works. I'm not using software everyday and tend to have to relearn quite a bit every time.
Read a lot of discussions here re the old Layers and the new Lanes-the differences/similarities of such. X2 is only a few weeks old for me as I just took advantage of the $49 upgrade.
