Well, as you may have guessed, this is the reason why

Just my usual blend of electronica I'm afraid... I get me coat...

Andy, this is a smooth production that's nicely balanced.  I like the levels of the drums and bass in this because each has its own space and is easily heard.  You have a nice blend of textures that go well together.  The only minor nit that I hear is that the instruments could be panned wider to spread the stereo further.  But, that's me, I like wide mixes.  All in all, good job.

Hi Lynn,

Thanks for taking the time to listen, and comment

This is one of my generally uncluttered pieces... I usually cram anything between twenty to forty tracks into a composition. This only has nine (drums count as one because I haven't bothered to split the kit across separate outputs). It is also quite simple in its composition too.

The drums have their own separation, as determined in the preset used in Battery 3.

The bass and lead are panned dead centre.

Everything else is panned between 29 ~ 35% L-R, so yeah, there is certainly more scope to pan some of those tracks even wider. I'll give it a try and report back

cheers

Well, my dumb computer thinks it can't open Soundcloud, so I'll have to come back later...

Very clean, well-balanced mix. If any suggestion comes to mind, your bass is just a tad too prominent considering it doesn't do very much in the song, except set the root. The bass almost becomes a kick drum, I found myself focusing a little too much on it, as opposed to the other neat ear candy.

nice job!

cheers,

Ah well... No worries... I can't remember if you need to be a member to listen to stuff at SoundCloud... I'm always signed in.

Thanks for taking the time to listen Shawn

I'm afraid that "happy" is kind of my trademark. I do try to compose darker stuff, but it always turns out happy LOL.

Hi Tom,

Thanks very much for listening to my tune

I have tried to take on board the your comments, Tom, and those of Lynn above. I think I might have messed it up a bit now though... I went and messed with all the sliders, taking the bass down a touch, panning some of the pad parts further left/right, and generally tweaking all of the levels.

I also had a go of using Izotope Limiter, in SF10, which I've not used before, so the V2 version of this composition is a tad louder than before.

I'm now not so sure which version I like best

Cool tune!  I agree with Tom about the bass part.... I think 1/8th notes could have been used (instead of 1/4s) in at least the "chorus", and it would make this happy tune "bounce" even more.

Good mix on my computer speakers.  I heard some movement in the synth parts...which I like.  :-)

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for taking the time to listen... I appreciate that, and especially your comments

I could rework the bass further, I guess... I put a V2 on SoundCloud which had the bass turned down a touch and the whole track re-mastered. I'm reluctant to do any more to this just yet as I've moved onto a different project. Perhaps at some point in the future I could revisit this track yet again.

Thanks again,

cheers

There ya go...this computer knows Soundcloud isn't a scary place or anything. :)

This is cool.  I can hear it as a sound track or something.  I can't add any words of wisdom.  It works, nothing stands out as bad or annoying.  Good job. :)
