Herb, stand up and take a bow.  This poignant song should be heard by everyone.  Neil Young would cry over this.  This may be the best song I've heard all year.

Your mix sounded perfect on my computer speakers Herb!  Nicely done.  Is Melodyne used on any of the vocals?  Just curious.  Not my normal genre, but I liked your message.
Thanks for sharing.

Lynn: I am humbled by your comments.   Thank you. I agree, everyone needs to hear this. I did not know, before I started working on this song with Joanne, that the situation with this magnificent animal was so critical. Just the other day, on Drudge, there was a story that there is only one surviving white rhino male in the wild. He has a 24/7 armed escort.

Tbosco: Thank you as well for the comment on the clear mix. Yes...Melodyne Editor was used in a few places. I use it manually so I pick and choose what gets corrected and by how much. Both the lead vocals were melodyned in places. All of the harmony and BGV tracks were left natural..... no melodyne. I used it to change something Joane sang.... the part on the bridge was edited....and there was a place where she sang the phrasing a bit off..... I used it to edit the timing. Most of the other places where it was used, it was to correct a slightly off ( a few cents) note.... or to reduce her very strong vibrato on certain notes,  to a more natural sounding level... at least to my ears.

I love everything about this! Really great song and I love the feel and the vocals are great. I think it might help if the female vocal had a touch less reverb, to my ears she had more than the male vocal . Not a big thing though because I agree with Lynn, may be the best song I 've heard all year too.

Nice song. I like the drums, pretty nicely mixed. The cymbals and hi hat are a touch flangey. I'd like the vocals up even just a tad.

cheers,

Beautiful tune and you two did a really nice job bringing emotion to it. Well done mix and I can't think of anything I would change, except for making the guitar solo a little more up front...

Dan

teego: It is totally possible that the female vox are wetter.... I will have a look at that. Thanks for listening and observing that detail.

Rimshot:  Yes, I did not know, before I started on this song, as I mentioned to Lynn, I was pretty clueless about the situation of the african rhino.

Emeraldsoul:  This was one of those situations where I was thinking the vox are too loud, then I listen again and they're not loud enough..... the mixing is still not finalized..... I will consider your comments when I set down the the final touches.

Dan:  Thanks.... I too was thinking that but I tend to err on the side of caution..... got it.... crank the solo a few dB....

The solo way back like it is would be fine if it was effected to sound like it was echoing on a plain. Then you could add some African touches over the top of it...

Just a thought...don't go too crazy, lol.

Regards,
Dan
