ok I see, that did the trick,..
 
but how do I get the T1 track to play with the punch in/out on T3? It doesn't seem to play the rest of the track when I select T3, it will only play the punch nothing else outside of the punch (hope that makes sense)

Just one more thing, the clips are muted by default because you checked the "Mute Previous Takes" option. The procedures outlined in the post above will unmute the clips.

I see, so why on earth did they specify that in the video clip - just confused the crappolla out of me!!!

You would have to ask the authors of the video. I guess it fit their workflow. The video is also not a tutorial but a demonstration of X2. There is a tutorial about take lanes here
 

One more thing, new users cannot post links (it is an anti-spam thing). There is a threshold (some post count I believe) when links are allowed. I do not know what the threshold is. Lanes are a new feature replacing an older implementation. They are not without issues but hardly the disaster that you might read about.

The tutorial is pretty basic and doesn't go into much usage scenario like the Live TV stuff does...  In any case I'll continue going through the material and grasp a good solid understanding along with practising these neat little tools...

Bugga, arrrgghhhhhh - I'm really beginning to struggle with this,..
 
Here it is right, I created a fresh new project, played a bit of a guitar piece and tried to do some takes between measures 12 and 13 (set the punch in/out to measures 12 and 13) and set to loop over measures 9 and 16 - all went fine... 
 
However still when I playback the track is muted and when the player is over the take lane it is unmuted and if I Solo the track it plays and mutes the take lane. So no matter what I do one or the other will be muted.
 
I went over the video of the features review again, I see that at a crucial stage in the video where they play back the track along with selecting their lane takes there is a disturbance in the video like it has been edited - I think these guys in the video came across the same issue or some issue they needed to look more closely at, because if you follow the video there is definitely some progress made in their video that we are not seeing...  Like it has skipped some moments in time and that it occurs just a split second before 1:08:41 into the video....

If you want both take lanes to play, take the solo off and unmute the other lane (if it is muted) and don't forget that in addition to muting entire tracks, you can mute clips. There is another video you might find useful about how to use the mute tool. Although the video discusses how to comp entire takes and it uses layers in X1 but you should be able to make the tech leap to lanes in X2.
