Same thing after I re-installed the demo and chose all defaults. Immediate fatal error when I inserted it in SONAR. I think I'll skip Sonalksis!

Hi Andy-

Another vote for GlissEQ and SPAN.

But why both? I mean, I already have SPAN, but GlissEQ includes a real-time spectrum analyzer, so why would I want SPAN in the same channel strip? Or do you mean you use SPAN on a bus?

Thanks-

-Susan

Well, you seemed to be interested in both an EQ with a spectrum display and spectrum dispays in general. Plus SPAN is FREE...

Seriously, Gliss does what you want when you want to compare sources and have an EQ at the same time. SPAN you can stick anywhere. I also sometimes use Analyst but I find SPAN to be so much more configurable and informative. I find I use SPAN more for overall shaping(like busses) but I use Gliss to compare tracks and eq space for the different instruments. Plus gliss has a cool sound for some things. Again...SPAN is FREE...but doesn't do multiple source. Gliss isn't free but does multiple sources...get both and be happy...

Susan,

I had fatal error issues with Sonalksis plugs too. For some reason, the VST versions of the plugs dont play nice, and cause fatal errors, with Sonar 6 and above. I believe they (sonalksis) are working on it. Has something to do with the code of the new Mk2 versions. Its a known issue though. Im sorry I forgot to mention this. Use the DX version of the Plug in, not the VST. It should work fine with no errors or crashes. Personally, I couldnt work without their EQ. Its THAT good. Try the DX solution. If it works, you wont regret it.

Good Luck.

Hi JP-

I'll try that tonight -- don't know why it didn't occur to me!

Andy- I've had SPAN for a while and I do like it, I just wanted some options for an EQ + analyzer in one plugin. Seems there are several! I'm going to try the multiple source feature in GlissEQ tonight. That sounds very useful.

Thanks-

Hi JP, et. al.:

I did get the Sonalksis DX version to work, but I should have checked the price first! Beyond my budget right now, I'm afraid, and I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the demo, but the UI wasn't intuitive for me at all. I admit I was in a rush, though.

I decided to go with GlissEQ once I tried the Export/Overlay feature. That sold me on it -- I think it will be very useful! Plus I'm used to the interface, having used VoxFormer for quite a while.

Thanks again for all the input!

Susan,

Have you had a chance to do much with the GlissEQ yet? I've been thinking about getting it and was wondering if you agreed with everyone who said it was the way to go.

Thanks.

I'm sorry if you've already explained why you can't do this, but can you not simply use EQUO within FL Studio and use FL Studio itself as a VST plugin within Sonar? Or do you need the Juice Pack for that? BY the way, the first EQ I ever saw that had a spectrum analyzer built in was Izotope's Ozone. That might sound like overkill (assuming you have it) because of everything else Ozone does and the CPU power it requires, but it does allow you to turn off various functions/modules and only use what you want, thereby making it usable as a track insert.

Hi Rick-

I like GlissEQ very much! If you're a novice EQer like me, you'll definitely want to go through the documentation so everything in the UI is clear, and to know how it differs from "standard" EQs (although I'm still not convinced there is such a thing!)

One thing I really like about it is that you can "Export" the output of one instance and "Overlay" it on another, so for example you can see the keyboard's frequency spectrum overlaid on the guitar's. I find those visual cues very helpful.

I'd definitely recommend at least checking out the demo.

Hi Mick-

No, you don't need Juice Pack for that, and I actually did think about what you suggest. But then my head started to hurt! Without having EQUO as a separate plugin (i.e. as part of Juice Pack) I'd have to route the audio tracks I want to EQ from SONAR to FLS's mixer (on separate channels) to use it. I think

No, I don't have Ozone, but thanks for that suggestion as well.
