I currently have SONAR X1 Producer Expanded installed and would like to use Beatscape.  I've installed Beatscape from the DVD I received when I purchased SONAR.  When I look at the tutorials for Beatscape and Scott Garrigus' book, I see examples for the use of Beatscape but I can't figure out how to open Beatscape.  What am I missing?

It should show up in your list of available instruments.  If not, go into preferences and re-scan to make sure Sonar updated available plugins.

IIRC, if running 64bit SONAR, the 64bit installer puts the Beatscape dll in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Beatscape" but does not add the location to the scan path for 64bit SONAR. Add the directory to the scan path, re-scan and it should appear.

Hi Jeff,

After you've checked the previous suggestions about plug-in scanning, you should see Beatscape listed with all the other synths when you choose Insert > Soft Synth from SONAR's main menu. You can use that to insert an instance of Beatscape into a project. There's more info about inserting synths at the beginning of the synth chapter in the book.

Thanks for reading my book! I hope you're enjoying it.
