Hello.

I recently formatted HDD and reinstalled Win7 and Sonar X2.
Problem is I have to make all set up again for Sonar X2 such as various option settings, font color, layout, etc.

So I wonder if there is user setting file somewhere in the HDD so that I can simply save it and copy it after reinstalling Sonar X2.

Thanks
J

Hmm...I wonder if that's possible. I have all my Preference pages captured and stored on an Excel sheet.

As for colors, you should've exported the setting beforehand. As for layouts, they are saved with the project.

Maybe you really mean something different, but you appear to be asking for a miracle, i.e. to find an old file on a drive after reformatting it.

Thanks for the reply.
I hope Cakewalk make easier way to save user's setting data.

I'm sorry if my Eng is awkward .
Of course not.
If there is a file for user setting data, I'll copy it to other HDD first, then copy it back to the folder where Sonar X2 is reinstalled.
I use desktop PC and copy whole files(maybe 80gb? ) in the C:\ to other HDD before formatting C:\ for safety.

Most of SONAR's settings are stored in three text files: AUD.INI, CAKEWALK.INI and TTSSEQ.INI. These can be found in \users\{user_name}\appdata\cakewalk\{sonar_version} for Windows 7/8, or in \documents and settings\{user_name}\application data\cakewalk\{sonar_version} for XP and Vista.

These folders will also have other user-specified or custom data such as project and track templates and drum maps, so you'll want to back up the entire folder. Also note that the folder may be hidden by Windows and not show up in Windows Explorer until you check the "show hidden folders" option.

@bitfilpper
Thanks for the useful tip.
Unfortunately, it seems not work for my situation such as font color, keyboard shortcut, etc.
I also tried copy several folders that is related to Sonar X2, but it didn't work.

Keep in mind there are a lot of parameters stored in the registry. I quick scan in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2" would lead me to think Bindings and Colors might interest you. Usually user customizable items in the registry have corresponding import/export functions in SONAR preferences.
