Is there any particular reason why Cakewalk chose not to include Beatscape in SonarX2? It seems that most other legacy plugins are included e.g. Cyclone, RXP, TTS1, Psyn II etc.

No idea, but they probably decided just not to continue supporting it. If you have it from a previous version though, you can still install it and use it in X2.

Made redundant by matrix view maybe?

Matrix the new beatscape?  And the give you all the samples, too.  I think Beatscape is a failed Cake experiment, which is sad.  It would make a hell of a pad synth if they just could have got the timing things right and expanded it.  I had a good song going in it but ended up dragging the samples to the timeline since it was easier to do that than try to get BS to play like I wanted it too.

I think When Renee left there was little reason to put that much effort into a plugin that was considered a disappointment

One of the things I liked about Beat Scape that Matrix doesn't do is that depending on where you clicked on the pad the volume of the sample would change. I don't think that it is currently possible to control volume in Matrix View based on where you click to activate the sample, since the volume for the sample is controlled by the track itself.

I like Beat Scape. I like Matrix View. I only use either when I'm really really bored though. :-) I have too much live recorded music to mix to mess around much with Beat Scape.

I once did sample in some sounds from a favorite song some of my friends play and I made a remix of it triggering loops of their song's various tracks using Matrix View.

I do install Beat Scape with X2.

it's a failed attempt at an mpc.. load up 9 rxp's (make a template) .. or use the matrix..

also because it relies on a 3rd party and their lib's.. that can cause issues...e.g. if they update it / don't update it often enough.

I think it was more GUI than useful tbh.. yes it looked the part.. but well..

I actually liked Beatscape, or at least the potential it had.  The content is/was good too.
