Pretty "amped" ..( pun intended) to post this one. It has been one of my favorite compositions for a long time, and recently finished this recording of it. It is dedicated in title, to the Cane River and the surrounding lifestyle in La where I spent two years at grad school - I am very pleased how this came out, and hope others enjoy ! Thanks

Very nice. Good tasty use of the effects and the tone of the guitar is spot on! Great job, cool tune!

Thank you a lot clintmartin..... On the guitar I recently got a  Fishman Loudbox mini, and I'm very impressed with it for this and my 12 string which has a song coming. That amp is very quiet on when idle on quiet parts. So I experimented with a method I had not heard of yet for recording acoustic - I set up a mid-side mic configuration  in front of the cabinet. I played it completely dry with no built in amp fx on - and added  that in the DAW. Only adjusted the amp EQ bass up somewhat and hi up - mid a few clicks down. It surprised me frankly how nice the guitar tracks sounded the first time out - with almost no EQ or Comp tweaks needed in the box...

What I really meant was - for recording M-S on an amp cabinet - not the guitar....

Nothing wrong with any of this...and if I thought there was I would be sure to tell you :)

Top notch recording and playing...I hope you have a lot of folks offering to pay a buck for this one...I know that's probably not a motive really but it's a nice when they do.

Hi Charles,

Good job with this tune. I like the tone of the guitar you have captured and the effects you have coming in and out.

Very nice

I think it's wonderful and not much to nit about.  However I will say it seems there isn't much going on in the middle of the mix field.  The ac gtr is superbly recorded...and waaay out left and the "delay" aspect of it is panned pretty far right.  The drums seem split pretty wide too.  IF I had a suggestion, would be to put that lovely guitar right smack dab center, and have some "ambience"...other mics, FX...whatever panned to the left and right of it.  Same with the drums, but leaving only the kick, as one might traditionally do, in the center....its' frequency waay out of the way of the guitar.  Pan the rest of the percussion accordingly.  I personally like nice, wide stereo reverb, either noticeable...or not so...  But put that gitter, up center, front.  My headphones felt like they had volume knobs on each ear, and they weren't adjusted equal.

GREAT music...  can't over emphasize that.  good job!

I wouldn't change a thing.

Actually, could do with some tom rolls or something once in a while for a drum fill, the drums were a little drum machine-y, but they do the job just fine.

Cool tune. Jerry Reed indeed!

cheers,
-Tom
