...in the music business and the birth of egalitarianism at the Dawn of the Information Age.  Pedro:  was this your doctoral thesis?

Not really. I, personally, do not have anything against capitalism, other than a total aversion to greed in its ugliest haircuts!

All in all, because of the media and "pop'ular" thing, too many folks do not seem to appreciate and listen to other things for a serious contrast. The late 60's and 70's and into the 80's were an era that helped bring alive a lot of stuff from all over the world, however, the media has caught up again, and turned it (again) into a top ten and "classic" this or that and the end result is that a lot of folks seem to lose the ability to hear something completely different, that might have a tendency to make you and others feel uncomfortable, because of it. Uncomfortable, mostly because many of us can not "interpret" that odd thing, and what it is, and supposedly means.

The history of the arts, specially in the 20th century, is about change and the oddest things EVER, and yes, Stravinsky even hit the big time, but many others were also there, not as well known, that pushed the buttons quite far.

Rock, jazz and many other forms of "popular" styled music, has had so many different things, and they are totally outstanding, but, because they did not "sell", no one knows them and some even think that it is crap otherwise it would sell. Look, if you were from the South Pole and wrote Layla, no one would have given a $hit!

Is that what you want? Stunt and stop the clarity and beauty that other people also have, or is this "capitalism" just another form of Nazi'sm ... under the ruse of money?

Don't confuse "art", or "arts", or "creativity", with money. YOU, specially, know that for everyone of these "famous" and well to do folks in music, there are at least 99 others, that tried and did not get anywhere ... and it wasn't because they weren't good, because I can tell you RIGHT NOW, that even in the COFFEE HOUSE there are folks that are way and far better deserving of attention and appreciation for their work than they get!

It's about the art for me, not the money!

so noble.  pedro I'm in awe of you.

It is all subjective. To some music and other arts are very important. To others they are just a backdrop to their life. The vast majority of people simply don't care.. and that's OK, it is just the way things are.
It's all out there if you want it but most people are happy with whatever because they are busy with other things. Nothing new and it wont change. I'm glad people are making money. I wish artists made more but they never have except for a might few of them and seemingly for a short time.
This world is simply that: this world.

..but you already knew this.

To say all is subjective is the night in which all cows are black!

My mom said I used to make a lot of neologisms as a child.  Often, there were combinations of words.  My favorite was BARM (barn and farm).  You can see I was a very confused child.  Another was *suvy* (soft and cuddly).
