  • Any chance Adaptive Limiter can be unlocked from SONAR?

I expect I know the answer, but it would be an awesome "gift" if Adaptive Limiter (which I find really easy to use, and gives great  results with little pain) was to be unlocked from SONAR so it could be used with other DAWs. This is the ONE plugin that won't move to other DAWs that I will really miss.

I think the fact that the Adaptive Limiter requires a minimum level of Sonar suggests that it relies on something specific to Sonar. I'm pretty sure that if they could have sold it to non Sonar users they would have especially given how well it was received.

That would be something CW would have to do. Personally, I think Gibson should sell AL to an established plugin developer, as it's good enough to compete with the big boys and could have a great future as a standalone product. We'll see what happens when Gibson goes into bankruptcy and is forced to sell its assets.

I second that, but I don't hold much hope.

I'm continuing to use SONAR Platinum, but I'm on the Reaper learning curve.

So far the only things I can't do (yet) in Reaper that I could do easily in SONAR are:

1. Save notes about each track as part of a track template.
2. Independently adjust the size of the waveform in each track.
3. Use Adaptive Limiter.

I've got a good work-around for 1., a bad work-around for 2., and little hope for 3.

I love the Adaptive Limiter too and agree it would be awesome if it were free to use elsewhere. No rush for me however, I have no immediate reason to jump ship, everything works perfectly as is.
