Double the processing speed should account for that.  I'll find out Friday.  If it is sluggish, I'll have to change the new one back over to the iPad 2.  :)

Take care,

Resurrecting this...

I have stumbled into an Ipad3 and cannot get v control to connect.  (Win 7 X64 and Sonar X-2)

Installed Bonjour.  (this is a little step not advertised very loudly..)
Installed Ney-fi (downloaded 1.7 from their site)
created ad-hoc wireless network  (removes router issue and authentication issues)
My computer is visible in v-control
select v-control as the surface and v-control in and out midi device in Sonar.

And all I get is connecting....

Any thoughts ??

Its a long time since using it, but, don't you have to make soure Ney-Fii is running before opening Sonar? Might be something like that.

joakes
I always start Ney-Fi first, then Sonar, then V-Control.

In Sonar, select the Mackie Control surface and set to V-Control in and out.

Takes about 5 seconds to connect here.

Cheers,
Jerry

Tried changing up the order a number of different ways.  Ney Fi is running.

I think this is a "virtual" midi issue.  I tried to connect the midi device (V-Control) in Guitar Rig and the V-Control midi device shows up and I can turn on the midi in, but when I try to learn the midi key (play in V-Control to play on Guitar Rig Tape Deck) nothing happens.

It sure looks liek it should work, but just does not send and receive mid data.

I also notice that the little midi LED indicator widget on my system tray that comes up with Sonar, one of the LEDs is lit solid.

When you guys installed the Ney Fi, did you get 3 midi devices installed ?  V-Control, V-Pan L and V-Pan Right ?

Right .... After ney fi is installd select macki control is selected and in and outs should be v control

Make sure your iPad is connected to wi fi and in the settings on v control its to whatever your computer name is .. PC-whatever the name is

Is a great app ...

thanks Mooch....

I select v-control in and out and mackie control, and then I see the midi thingy showing midi out leaving Sonar...but then nothing.  (my PC is selectable on the Ipad and that all works fine too)

I am thinking that there are TCP or UDP ports that do get opened for IP connectivity, but whatever ports the midi traffic are supposed to go back and forth on are staying closed.  I allowed V Control all access through the windows firewall.   And still nothing.

As the ipad does all midi wirelessly, I am really anxious to get this working.

Maybe it's something with the router set up. I have my router straight to the computer through either net hooked through an Ethernet cable. make sure the ethernet is hook to the "additional ports" not the main port.... I had that messed up the first time I used it .... And it wouldn't work...

Then all I do is follow this http://forum.neyrinck.com...pic.php?f=74&t=102

Other wise I don't know what else to say ...try posting on their forums .. An admin seems to always help folks out there

thanks, I am posted there too.

Very weird.  I am using Ad hoc connection which does use router.  If it is required to have the DAW on a cable ethernet connection and use a router, that is show stopper.  My DAW is wireless and obviously the Ipad is wireless too.

I checked firewall on my DAW and there is nothing blocked for Bonjour and Ney Fi ...all private and public networks are wide open.

Hopefully the V COntrol folks can come up with something.

Thanks all.
