The Delta 1010 has issues with Sonar where it crashes and then the driver doesnt get released and a reboot is required. Very annoying.

Markyzno,
It might be advantageous to look elsewhere for the cause of your problem. I'm using a Delta 1010. I was getting the exact same problem, with a project that was started in Sonar 8.5, that I'd subsequently been working on in X2.  The cause turned out to be a Rapture LE softsynth. I just deleted it, and since getting X2 Producer, which comes with the full version of Rapture, I inserted that in its place. I'm not a big user of softsynths, so  I don't know if Rapture LE has a problem or if there was just something screwed up with that particular softsynth insertion in that one project, or not.

I had great experience with delta audiophile and the  1010' lt for more then  7 years.
rocksolid on  elder systems with Win 98/ XP. and emagics logic audio platinum
The unsynmetrical (hope that s the right word) signal path of this interfaces (artefarcts aso)
leads me to interfaces with symmetrical signal path, like the delta 10/10 amd the focusrite interfaces.

I'm going the opposite route of Jay Tee. I'm having a superb sound experience with Focusrite.

I use a Scarlett 18i6 which has a great user interface as well as my primary. I have a ProFire 2626 providing ADAT input to the Scarlett. It's all working great and sounding great.

The consensus seems to be that the older stuff is decent, but the newer stuff is hit or miss. I can't speak for the newer stuff, but I have been very happy with my dusty old unit.

My retired DAW has a Delta-44. Bare bones, no pre, no frills, but rock solid. It is PCI. I can't speak for Win 7/8 driver support because that DAW is XP. Several posts back, somebody mentioned using a Delta 1010 on Win7 with no problems. So I would guess that the smaller PCI-based siblings in the Delta family would work just as well with the newer OS. If you can find an older unit, it might be worth investigating.

I'll probably never sell my 44 because it runs well on an old computer that has been relegated to jam party duty.

Desmond - I'd go with the newer stuff is way better. The older stuff likely works fine with older machines. If you do wind up with a newer PC you'd benefit from having one of the more contemporary units.

This may not matter to anyone (since there were no comments on my post!) but last night I uninstalled BFD2, Guitar Rig 5, Dimension, Z3ta, and Rapture plus all C++ except for 2010 before I was able to reinstall the Fast Track Ultra driver on a Windows 8 laptop running on a Core i5 next generation.
The funny thing is that Sonar X2 will not see ASIO drivers, only WDM - I think it has something to do with the afore mentioned ASIO4ALL dll.  Before I dumped the driver, BFD and Guitar Rig saw the ASIO, but they both worked in Sonar.  ?????  I assume that will be the same after I reinstall.  Very strange - but the audio quality is fine.

I think if you UNcheck the WDM, it should then display the ASIO for selection.  (I could be wrong, as I am doing this from memory at the moment).

But, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try removing the check box from the WDM and clicking apply, then seeing if the ASIO drivers are displayed.

Nope. Went through that before the uninstall and tried it again once reinstalled. As I said, it is a very strange situation since BFD and Guitar Rig register the ASIO driver as if it is the only driver there. I'm thinking about calling Cakewalk tech support, but I'm not sure if it really matters.

Now all that's left is to see if everything else reinstalls w/o glitches.
BTW - Sonar sees the Line6 ASIO driver, and my UA 101 ASIO driver (the inputs are shot on that thing - man I loved it when it worked) just not the Fast Track.
Thanks Bob.

Hey Stone House Studios, I think this may be related to the latest drivers that Avid has released for this device.  Can you try uninstalling the current drivers you have and install the ones before these?  Let's see if this resolves the issues that you have are having.
