Well, my old studio computer finally went to heaven and I've jumped from S6 PE to X2 PE, can't seem to find a way to mess with the pan law settings. I have to believe it's still an available feature, but haven't had time to do proper research because I was in the middle of a project when the crash and burn occurred. Fortunately, S6 seems to behave itself in Windows 7 64 bit other than one or two minor quirks, so I've been able to continue finishing the project. Any help? Thanks.

Configuring panning laws
You can choose from six different panning laws. A panning law is the mathematical formula that a sequencer or mixer uses to control panning.
To change panning laws
1.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Audio - Driver Settings.

2.
In the Stereo Panning Law field, choose one of these options:

(Default) 0 dB center, sin/cos taper, constant power. This choice causes a 3 dB boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and no dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

-3dB center, sin/cos taper, constant power. This choice causes no boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and 3dB dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

0dB center, square-root taper, constant power. This choice causes a 3 dB boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and no dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

-3dB center, square root taper, constant power. This choice causes no boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and 3dB dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

-6dB center, linear taper. This choice causes no boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and 6dB dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

0 dB center, balance control. This choice causes no boost in a signal that’s panned hard left or right, and no dip in output level in either channel when the signal is center panned.

Click OK.

The above is from the Help file.

Yup! John's got it.  That is where you can access the panning law.  There is definitely some noticeable differences between all of the settings so be sure to choose wisely ;)

Just Remember that the Pan Laws are a Global setting and not a per project setting. If you change the pan laws to a different pan law, then the projects that you mixed previously will sound way different as the 'pan laws' are global.

I also check hardware or audio software that have pan law features to make sure they're all using the same one as my DAWS.

Thanks for the help. I'm familiar with the nuances, having experimented with them in S6, just feeling my way around the new GUI. While we're on that subject, I can't seem to find a mono/stereo icon in the track view, only console view.
