Hi all - do any of you use the Aeon Collection? What are your thoughts?  I missed the black friday deal - do they have a Christmas one?

I find it hard to believe that it's worth the whole $400...

I'd love to have it. Lots of excellent stuff in there. But for 4 bills, nah. You'd get more mileage out of Omnisphere for that kind of money.

Wow. That thing sounds great! I'm kind of happy I didn't know it was on sale during BF.

Komplete 9 or 10 could be also worth getting for not much more.

Komplete 10 is almost double the price...

Omnisphere, huh?  I'm going to have to check that out...  Although I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on Aeon.  During black friday it was only $250.  That seems like a reasonable price to me,  but I don't know if I can wait a whole other year.  Anyone know if they do an Xmas or Spring thing?

I've got several of heavyocity's libraries.  Great stuff.  $400 is too much for just about anything software related, but for $200 it would be a good deal.  I'm still twisting stuff out of the evolve collection and haven't scratched dm 307.  1st class all the way.

I have the collection.  I have almost everything Heavyocity.

Aeon is like the Evolve packs but on steroids.

great sounds very useful and mixing and matching from the rhythmic and melodic packs expands for a lot more possibilities.  The twist, punish effect is like that of Damage.  Aeon is like Evolve, Damage and mutations thrown in together with all new scripting and samples.  there is no reused content from other packs - it's all new stuff.  every package by heavyoicy can be used together and work seamless.  I like it and it's one of my favorite Kontakt libraries.

Heavyocity generally only does a BF special or a spring sale.  sales are rare or if they offer a new pack then those packs are on intro sale.

I bought the Aeon Collection in a 30% off sale.  so $250 or something like that.  totally worth it.  for $399 it's a bit steep BUT it really is a great pack.

for $399 if you don't have Omnisphere synth and were leaning one or the other I would say Omnisphere.  Omnisphere is probably my go to synth of all the ones I have, it just sounds amazing and it's really clean and easy to use.

I guess it boils down to how much money do you have, what type of music do you do, what do you need to add to your toolbox.

Thanks for the input.  I wish I had caught that Black Friday sale.  $250 seems reasonable to me.  I'll look into Omnisphere some more.  I don't suppose they have deals at any point?

Honestly, I play a lot of roots and acoustic music.  I bought Sonar to produce an all acoustic album, but after that project finished I've started delving into midi and learning about what it can do.  The only tools I have at this point came with Sonar Producer and I also bought some EastWest stuff during their black friday 2:1 thing.  To be honest, I wasn't as impressed with East West as I thought I would be and didn't want to be underwhelmed again.

I bought the Dark Side Library and Hollywood Strings/Woodwinds/Brass Silver.  The Dark Side was extremely disappointing.  Most of the sounds are so layered with effects and if I want to dial them back - I can't...  Also some of the best sounds are atonal so it basically renders them useless.  the hollywood stuff is fine, but it doesn't have the wow factor I thought it would.  Plus the silver is missing so many articulations and I'm not going to shell out thousands for the diamond version.

Enough of that rant.

Considering at this point it's just to satisfy a curiousity and kind of a hobby, I'll probably see if I can wait until a spring sale pops up.
