I last used the Tape Emulator only 2 days ago. Since then I have installed a trial copy of Digital Performer, and now the Tape Emulator is apparently missing. Could DP have messed up anything with Sonar? Since it's a ProChannel module, there is no obvious way to check whether it is being registered by Sonar, e.g by looking n Plugin Manager. Or is there?

Also the Track Inspector was not displaying ProChannel correctly. Reinstalling Platinum solved that. Reinstalling the Platinum Core Plugins got the Tape Emulator back. All good now (I hope).

Does the folder "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal" exist?  Also, in there is there a folder called "Tape Emulator" which contains the file "Tape Emulator-64.dll".  If so, maybe do a VST scan and reset.

Also, do you know if your or someone has disabled 8.3 short file names on your system.

It did exist and a rescan did not fix the problem, but a reinstall did.

Not as far as I know (and I am the only user of the computer in question). I was not even aware that it was possible to do that.

One thing I know makes pro-channel modules disappear is compressing the folder.

I tried to save up some space on my c:\ drive by compressing c:\program files, and all my pro-channels went AWOL.

As soon as I uncompressed the cakewalk folders, they all came back.
