That was cool! I like that you used the bass riff as a focal melody. Overall very punchy, edgy but not over the top or too carried away. Nice and classy!

when i got the backing tracks, it was just drums and bass.
 
the bass was always the 'melody', in a way that he kept repeating motifs, and laying down a harmonic structure that was lending itself to what i came up with.....
 
i had this melody in my head, that was a direct response to that bass line....
it's almost as if i didn't write it,
it just kinda happened.
 
i like when it works like that!

Well that was an interesting 7:19 of time well spent...

Yeah, that about sums it up for me too.   
 
The bass is a stand-out within the tune, of course, but everything is well played and recorded.   IMHO it's not quite fusion or prog, just good solid rock by musicians who can really play.     Oh, and I liked the background "effects" at around the 5:00 mark.
