Well done, Janet! I agree with emeraldsoul about the bass. Either pull it back or make it more interesting (e.g. go out and hire a great bass player :).

If it was my mix, I'd next work on the vocal EQ. There's a bite there that isn't needed for this kind of tune. I'm guessing this was a bright condenser, maybe an NT-1A or something like that. Try a broad dip around 3KHz.

Just don't touch the piano. It's the best part, as usual.

Janet, I think this sounds better, though I would bring the bass down enough that it's not louder than the piano.  The vocal sounds good to my ears whether you take Dave's advice or not.  You're almost there.

Hi janet- You already got some great mix advice, so I'll just say how pretty the song was.  Well played by you and well sung by Robby.  It was good to hear his voice again.  Where is he these days?

Thanks Bit! Nice of you to stop by!  I believe I may have a real live (and good!) bass player willing to help me out on this, so stand by.  :) Thanks for the tips on the vocals.  I'll try that.  I do appreciate the kudos. :)

Lynn...thanks.  Drat it...too loud, huh?  Well, I'll try to address that when I get a new (real!) bass part in it.  Thanks so much!

Thank you very much, Phil!  I guess he's still where he's always been.  Maybe a new forum name?

Hi Janet,

Are you still working on this piece then? The version I can hear now certainly has a more prominent bass track, for sure. But by the comments made here, I guess you are going to work on the bass further.

Also, the version I just played as a prominent click, or glitch at 11 seconds in. I played it a couple of times, just to make sure that is wasn't my laptop, but it's definitely there.

cheers

Love the piano and strings Janet.  I heard the pop at 0:11 also, but is it really a pop or is it a hard hit on the bass guitar part that brings out a pop?  Agree with Bitflipper about vocal EQ...maybe "smooth" it out a tad.

I listened on computer speakers and can't really judge the bass volume on this one....but I had no trouble hearing it.

Thanks for sharing!  Very nice tune BTW!

Thanks so much Andy.  Yeah, still a work in progress.  I'll look at :11.  You're probably right.  :(

Thanks, Tony.  Sure do appreciate all the help (everyone!).  I hope to get this a whole lot better before long. You guys are great!

Really nice song Janet.  Robby sang it great and your playing is really good. The bass is too loud and compressed. Bring it way back so you can still hear it but make the focus the vocal and keys.  Strings are very well done. All and all, you have a special song here.
If you are going to re-mix, listen to this for a few times for some perspective:

All the best.

Janet
Thank you SO much for listening and commenting!  I'm not sure what happened with that base... or the whole mix for that matter.  Anyway, we may hear a REAL bass on this before long, so stay tuned. Thanks again.  I do appreciate it and hope you're doing well!

Hi Janet, Long time!! Hope you are well and the family is good. This piece sound nice, but like everyone is saying, the bass is way up front and needs to be dropped back into the mix. Listen to it again but turn the sound click player volume to 50 and you will see a bit clearer what needs to be adjusted so you can tweak each track in and out for better balance. Just try to keep the panning correct and don't share track space and it will all come together.

A very lovely and beautiful song. I do tend to remember this piece from last year or so, and now it is beginning to come full circle. Congrats to you and Robbie on a beautiful love song. It will touch many hearts.

Peace and Blessings, John
