Hallo everybody,
i'm running sonarX2 producer trail on my laptop.
I would like to use the sidechain input of the gate fx from sonitus. In audio track one i load the gate in the fx bin. After i chose the other audio track to put a new send to the sidechain input of the gate in it. But in the popup there is no option for the sidechain input.
What i do wrong? Anybody have an answer?

Best regards, Tomas

Not sure what the problem may be other than perhaps the sidechains are disabled in the trial version?  Here's all that needs to be done:

1. Create Audio Track 1.
2. Create Audio Track 2.
3. Drop Sonitus:FX Gate into FX Bin of Audio Track 1.
4. On Audio Track 2, create new Send and choose "Sonitus:FX Gate(side input)-Audio Track 1" from the drop down.

Try dropping an instance of Sonitus:FX Compressor and doing the same. Is the sidechain available for that plugin? If not, then I would say the trial versions are limited. Hopefully some version of sidechain is available...so try doing so on to an instance of the PC4K S-Type bus compressor with the sidechain switch turned on.

Yo folks. Absolutely don't know what is wrong.
Now i download the trial of CA 2A. With this one there is no problem. the sidechain works fine. So i can do what i want the sonitusfx gate or comp doesn't give me an sc input.
What's the next step??

Regards, Tomas

The solution, by default, is that you may not have the capability in the trial to do side chain on the Sonitus stuff. Have you tried using the side chain on the PC4K bus compressor module? It's the ProChannel module with an available side chain. Change (right-click then "replace") the PC76 compressor to a PC4K S-Type and see what happens.

Did you have any other version of Sonar installed previously?  If so, then perhaps you have some registry tidbits, or shared application stuff, from another install that are interfering with the newly installed versions of the same software.

I suspect that the plugin bundle that gets included with trial versions of Sonar has not been updated since before sidechaining was first introduced.

Yes i tried the PC4K and here works the sc very fine just as the CA2A wich works very well to.
In the trial of Sonar aren't any plugins of sonitus. I bought the plugins one month ago. It was an special offer in the download shop of cakewalk.
Strange is that i got a LE version of sonar. It's the version 8.5.1. In this version the sc of CA2A works very good too.

Hi there,
anybody got a solution? Because the problem's unfortunately not solved.
Or must i accept that there are no sidechain inputs?

Best regards, Tomas

Sidechain works great on the Sonitus Gate here under 8.5.

I suppose it's possible, as suggested by Kev999, that you've somehow got an older version of SonitusFXGate.dll. The suite has been around since c. 2001 so there have been a number of revisions over the years.

The sidechain feature was introduced in SONAR 7, but some users had difficulty at the time due to a change in the versioning that prevented the new Sonitus plugs from installing over the old ones, resulting in no sidechain input. We had to delete the DLLs and re-install to get the sidechain.

Go to \program files\cakewalk\shared plugins and check the version number on SonitusFXGate.dll. According to my notes, version 3.3.3.372 was the latest shipped with 8.5 (a later version shipped with X1 and had a memory leak, so I backrevved to the .372 version and it works fine - I don't know what version ships with X2).

Yep, I'm with Bitflipper on this one as the Sidechain works great with the Sonitus Gate on 8.5 Pro for me too!  In fact, it has a ducking pre-set which can be modified & it works so well with less overhead than using a Compressor, that I use it all the time to get that ducking effect as it's really easy to see & modify exactly the envelope that you need for that pumping effect.

Must be your set-up or the trial version as it's not unusual for trial versions to have features disabled.

It's cheap enough as it's on sale currently & if you're worried about it being limited to only being suited to certain genres, don't be as it's used by Film Scorers to Rock & Pop Musos & Guitarists, Progressive House & Trance producers too so it's a very powerful DAW!

It also has Roland V-Vocal which I also use to great effect on chopping vocals & I find that as long as I render out the audio to a recorded wav stem, it works fine & doesn't crash.  It's a great Melodyne substitute.

Good luck!

Hi there,
@ Bitflipper,
i bought the FX suite separate at the online shop of cakewalk. It was an special offer. So if i got a older version from where to get the newest? Or must i contact the support?
Here is a link with a picture of the version number.
