  • Help Wanted ! (no pay, though) Sonar X2- no sounds for audio metronome?

I've installed the upgrade to X2. Unlike previous installs, this started from square one.
I've had to assign my MIDI and USB Ports.
I got the Mackie Control working now.
What I can't get, is sound out of the Metronome. There is no option to select the 'ping' sound, in fact it's a blank menu.
Is there a known solution? Not sure why this happened.
Is there a way to import all preferences from X1 after the fact? (or should I uninstall and try again?)
It's not like I'm a total newbie, going back to Sonar 3.
But would  appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Can't be sure but if your comment above is up to date then you should read this:

System Requirements

Minimum system requirements
  • Windows 7 or Windows 8 (32 and 64-bit). XP and Vista are no longer officially supported.
  • Future updates will not be compatible or install on XP and Vista as they are no longer officially supported.
Grum.

The X2a update to X2 will not install on XP, and actually requires a minimum of Win 67 with SP1.

X2 will install on an XP box.  It's just the end of the line for Sonar at that point, until the OS gets upgraded.

Do you have a Metronome Bus?

In Preferences>Project>Metronome, do you have:

1.  Radio button selected for Use Audio Metronome?
2.  One or both boxes checked for Playback and/or Recording?
3.  If using Audio Metronome, First Beat = Ping High, Other Beats = Ping Low, Output = Metronome?

Hi Bob, and Grumbleweed.
yes, those are all checked. The problem is there is no sounds to select (and therefore the obvious problem) There are no 'pings', nor other sounds that would usually be listed.
Everything else was blank as well, and had to put in, as well.
Yes, I know. I've been planning for some time to get rid of the box, and am considering now what to get.
It's the first time I've upgraded and had no preferences  transferred, and also nothing to check for available options.
I was just wondering if this was because of a bad install, and was a solution available.
The settings are obvious, as far as what to do, but with no sound to select, that would be a problem :)

Best,
Jeff

I have been running X1 for some time with no problems.

I found this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Metronome-No-Audio-Files-for-Audio-Metronome-m2207119.aspx

Give that a read - perhaps one of the suggestions in there will fix it for you.

Try opening a 'Normal' template. That has the metronome all set up. Just double check you clicked the metronome 'turns blue' on the control panel. Here's everything to look at, just in case. The output option shown in the preferences, in this case 'Metronome', can be set to any bus you add to your project.
